West Kerry Photography Photography My name is Bernard Fitzgerald and I live on the Di**le Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland.

The most westerly peninsula in Europe and one of Ireland's most atmospheric places, the Di**le Peninsula boasts beautiful scenery, rugged landscapes and a true sense of timelessness. The Di**le Peninsula holds a special place for many who have viewed it's beauty, a place reminiscent of a past age, steeped in the lore of the land with many old and ancient sites. Stretching some 48km westward from T

ralee, Di**le Peninsula has a wealth of stunning scenery from sweeping mountains, tranquil lakes, un-spoilt sandy bays, to deserted islands.

Feather and Tide

A single feather,
light enough for the wind to forget,
stands quietly in the sand.

Beyond it, the sea
stretches farther than dreams can wander,
holding the weight of tides and sky.

One is small enough to fit in a hand,
the other too vast to ever be held.

Yet together they remind us—
greatness is not always measured by size;
sometimes the smallest things
give the endless world
its deepest sense of wonder.

I've been keeping an eye on these ringed Plover over the last number of weeks at our local beach. It was wonderful to see that the little chicks have hatched and survived. Beautiful sight to observe (from a distance). They are quite difficult to photograph, always protection their young. I used a 200mm lens to get these shots.
Some info:-

The Plover lay their eggs directly on sand or shingle, usually in a shallow scrape with little or no nesting material.

Their eggs are beautifully camouflaged, making them very difficult to spot.

If a predator—or even a person—gets too close, the adult performs a famous "broken-wing display." It droops one wing, flutters along the ground, and pretends to be injured to lure the threat away from the nest. Once the predator is far enough away, the bird suddenly flies off, leaving the nest safe. Nature is just wonderfull.
