A great day out with Moyglare Riding Club in Emerald Equestrian to where for a change I was just doing reels while someone else did photos on the day. Great to have people booking in advance but what else would you do with the the rest of your time but video all the rounds.
Lots of batteries and lots and lots of storage space take up on memory cards. Lots of learning. heading home to download all the data, I'll let you know where it ends up.

Let’s talk reels — what’s really in them?

Is it the whole round?
Or just the highlights — a couple of jumps, that moment you enter the arena, a glance to the camera, your horse gleaming, the pat after the last fence, the relief, the exhale, the walk out the gate.

Your jumping round might be 90 seconds.
Your showing class might be 40 minutes — trot, canter, change the rein, extend, wait… show pieces, ride judge, confirmation… wait… frilly, no frilly… out the gate.
And yet the reel?
20, 30, maybe 60 seconds.
So here’s the question for the equestrians:
What should a reel be? What do you actually want to see — the polished moments, the real ones, or the full story in between?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
