Back at the beautiful Springfort Hall for Alison & Pratheek’s fantastic wedding.

We had a storm forecast to hit around 2pm, with the rain threatening all morning, so we changed the plan a little and got outside for some photographs before the ceremony.

Thankfully we did.

By the time the ceremony came around, the heavens opened. Proper Irish wedding weather.

But what a crew. Laughing from the morning and just great craic to be around all day.

Later that evening the rain finally eased a little, and Alison & Pratheek braved the drizzle and came outside with me for one last evening photograph.

We started with the umbrella.

Then they dropped it.

Rain and all.

Fantastic crew. Fantastic people. A brilliant day.

Stacey & Mahan | Vienna Woods Hotel, Cork

Guests travelled from all over the world to celebrate Stacey & Mahan, and you could feel it the moment the day got going. Different families, different traditions, and one very good dance floor.

The power went out in the hotel that morning. We laughed about it, and we kept laughing until the last song.

Watching Mahan's family dance into the ballroom at Vienna Woods in their traditional Nigerian clothing was one of the best moments of my year. The music, the movement, the easy, relaxed feel of it all. Then the evening found its rhythm and a real buzz swept through the room. The bridesmaids, the groomsmen and every guest were superb. At one stage I told Mahan's uncles I might finally learn how to dance. I did not.

I met Shan and her sister Nadine four years ago when I photographed their mam’s wedding. Full of life, full of smiles and always up for the craic.

But this time it was Shan’s turn.

And Jaysus, was she happy.

Her smile stretched across her face walking up the aisle, and somehow managed to get even bigger walking back down it.

The way she looked at Brandon all day said everything. She was absolutely smitten.

And Brandon wasn't much better.

That morning, during their first look, I watched him try his absolute best to hold it together when he saw Shan. He nearly managed it too.

Nearly.

That's probably what I'll remember most about this wedding. Happiness everywhere. In the nerves that morning, in the way Brandon looked at Shan, in that enormous smile coming back down the aisle, and in the two of them surrounded by their little family and everyone they love.

Shannon & Brandon, I wish ye guys the absolute world.

Shan, you're a fantastic woman and I couldn't be happier for you and your little family.

Thank you both for having me back to photograph another chapter in the family.

Dave & Sinéad's

Bouncing off the girls that morning had the energy levels well up. Then over to Dave and the lads, lifelong friends, and the craic was more of the same. The guests were up for it from the minute we arrived. We had such an amazing day.

The wedding itself was held at Fota House & Gardens, with stunning decor throughout.
But there was one moment that really stuck with me.
As Sinéad was getting ready to walk down the stairs to see her dad, Aisling said to me, "He'll be emotional."
And sure enough, Terry was waiting at the bottom of the stairs, bracing himself.

I've photographed weddings for a long time, but I've never heard someone describe quite so perfectly what was going through them in a moment like that.
Terry said there was a pain going right through him.
"A beautiful pain."

And I knew exactly what he meant.
It was beautiful.

Then it was back to Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel for the reception, walking in to the sound of the fabulous Niamh O'Connor | Event & Wedding Singer Cork & Ireland doing what she does best.

Laughing, high spirits and beautiful emotions.

That was Dave & Sinéad's day.

Martina & Colm

This was some wedding.
Martina & Colm were going to have the craic regardless. Both love horses, and before the ceremony I got to meet Levi, Martina’s first horse, still looking absolutely brilliant at 30 years old.

After the ceremony we came back for a few photographs with Levi, then it was off to Innishannon House Hotel.
For October, we struck gold. Warm, sunshine breaking through, and everyone in flying form.

But Martina & Colm had also organised a rodeo bull.
Lads, for a wedding, this thing is some craic.

Then the newlyweds arrived in Martina’s first car, her old Toyota Starlet, still cruising along after all these years.
Martina stepped out, lifted the bottom of her dress and there they were.
White cowboy boots.

My brain immediately went:
F**k yes. She means business.

That dress was going on the bull.
And sure as Ruby Walsh, Martina and Colm climbed aboard and off they went, with everyone around them roaring laughing.

Once the bride had done it, every lad there had the same thought.
Well, now we have to.

One by one they climbed up.
One by one the bull fu**ed them off.

The laughter around Innishannon House was unreal.
That's what I love about weddings. Forget what you're supposed to do. Have the craic with your people and enjoy your bloody wedding.

What a day. What a group of people to photograph.
I can honestly still hear Molly laughing out loud.

Susan and Alan told me from the start that they wanted photographs of people enjoying themselves. Loads of laughter, loads of their guests, and all the little moments happening around them.

Well, they certainly gave me plenty to work with.
We started the morning laughing and somehow just kept it going for the entire day. I have a ridiculous amount of photographs of people absolutely bursting out laughing, and I think that's what I'll remember most about this wedding.

After the ceremony in Derrinagree, we headed for Killarney National Park for photographs.
The wind was something else.

Hair blowing everywhere. Dress blowing. Veil blowing. Any hope of keeping everything perfectly in place disappeared fairly quickly, so we just went with it.
And laughed the whole way through.

That's what a wedding should be for me. When the newlyweds are completely themselves, the bridal party are up for the craic and the guests have come determined to enjoy themselves, you can feel it in the photographs afterwards.

Susan and Alan, thank you so much for having me along. It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you, your families and one seriously good bunch of people.
A huge thank you as well to everyone at Luxury Wedding Venue | Killarney Weddings | Award Winning Team for looking after us so well, and to all the suppliers who helped bring the day together.

Charlene, Brian & Amber

What an incredible day with this Limerick crowd.

The abuse started early with me being informed that Cork hurling has gone down the drain , but we held our own, gave as good as we got, and the laughs never really stopped after that.

Charlene, in one word, is a mother. Always looking after everyone else and making sure they're okay. Just a genuinely beautiful soul.

And Brian? There aren't enough hours in the day for him. A seriously hard-working man who would do absolutely anything for his family.

Then there's Amber.

The oldest youngest little lady I know. One minute we're talking Paw Patrol, the next she's telling me the weather isn't looking great for the rest of the week. She's absolutely gas.

Brian held it together beautifully during the ceremony too...

Until a tiny voice came across the church speaker.

"Hey Daddy..."

That was it.

His little girl's voice completely melted him.

A beautiful day, a brilliant family and one hell of a Limerick crowd.
