A house that looks like it was plucked from the South African hinterland, with all the easy-breezy elegance of open-plan beach house living, was the initial brief. But this wasn't South Africa, nor was it inclined to be privy to sun-soaked days for even half of the year. This home is a brand-new bui...

In 1932 Daniel MacMonagle photographed legendary Fianna Fail TD Eamonn Kissane during a major rally in Tralee. Today, Taoiseach Micheal Martin accepted a framed copy of the photo from Dr. Owen O'Shea at the launch of the 'Soldiers of Destiny' Exhibition in Tralee Library.
The exhibition, entitled “Soldiers of Destiny, Fianna Fáil in Kerry 1926-1933” tells the story of Fianna Fáil in Kerry from its foundation in May 1926 to the general election of 1933 when the party’s vote in the Kerry constituency was the highest in the entire country, growing from 33% to 68% and is based on Dr.Owen O'Shea's history book 'From Bullets to Ballots'. The exhibition explores the the establishment of party branches, the results of elections, the role of newspapers and propaganda. The profiles of the seven Fianna Fáil TDs who represented Kerry between 1926 and 1933 are on display in the exhibition which will run for two months.
