I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer with a love of the outdoors and nature and have a passion for sunrise, sunset, landscape, and wildlife photography. There is so much to learn and so much to see so hoping to strike a balance between the two. There are so many simple pleasures on our doorstep and beauty can be found in every moment in all kinds of weather if you just look in the right place with an open mind.

A lovely memory from a kayak around Ireland’s Eye, Howth, on this day 2023.

It was great to paddle alongside Ireland’s sole surviving ocean-going wooden sailing ship A. K. Ilen (the A. K. stands for Auxiliary Ketch), as she approached Howth Harbour. The Ilen was originally built in Baltimore, West Cork, in 1926. A restoration project began in 1998 and took over 20 years to complete, involving traditional shipwrights, students, and volunteers at the Ilen School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Limerick and at Hegarty’s Boatyard, near Skibbereen.

What a stunning June evening on Carlingford Lough this was - great memories of this night early June, 2023. A cruise ship departure from Warrenpoint, a beautiful sunset and a full moon rise by Haulbowline Lighthouse. ❤️

Sunset light this evening on Carlingford Lough from Greenore. Thinking of the families of the fishermen whose boat sank in the lough earlier today. Unfortunately one of the men lost his life. May he rest in peace. Thoughts also to all the volunteers and rescue services on both sides of the lough.

The ever changing colours around the Flagstaff, taking in views of Armagh, Down and Louth. The yellow gorse is all but gone, replaced by 40 shades of green.

The Abbeyleix Bog Project is a great local community success story. This conservation project is entirely run by a community of volunteers who have managed the bog for the benefit of its wildlife and visitors for over 25 years.

The bog had originally been acquired from the de Vesci family by Bord na Móna. In 2000, when plans were being made to move ahead with commercial harvesting, a local group protested and blocked access to protect the environment.

Following successful negotiations, Bord na Móna agreed to hand over management of the Killamuck/Abbeyleix Bog to the local community. In 2009, a 50-year lease was signed, and restoration work officially began.

There are two trail loops through the bog - a short one at 3.6km and a longer one of 7.5km. It’s free to visit and open every day.

Beautiful sunset vibes from Gyles Quay, Co. Louth yesterday evening. Some lovely light and a hint of a rainbow.
