I spent years inside multinationals watching it happen.
Someone would walk into a meeting, say half of what I knew, and leave with twice the recognition.
I remember sitting at my desk thinking, I have been here longer, I know this better, I have done the work. Why is it always them?
For a long time I thought it was confidence. Or networking. Or just being louder.
It was none of those things.
It was positioning. They had made it clear, to the right people, what they were the person for. So when that thing came up, their name was already in the conversation. Mine was not.
I was capable. I was just invisible to the people who decided what happened next.
That realisation changed everything for me. It is also why I do the work I do now.
If something in this landed, the Authority Gap Assessment is on my website. Link in bio.
