Mental health matters! As an ambassador for Mind HK here is my speech from last night’s opening reception of Refraction in Exchange Square. Please visit ☺️📸!
Hi, I’m Rosa and thank you all for coming today. Together with my husband Daniel, we were so lucky to be the photographers for this meaningful exhibition. A big thank you to our studio crew, Matthew and Christie, and also the Mind HK Team—Grace, Tiffany, Vicki and Nicole—who worked so hard to make this light painting project happen.
During the creative process, our studio was transformed into a playground. With each image, the ambassadors spoke about their concept, and then with the help of a team, we found a way to dance around the subjects using special lights, movement, and long exposures. Refining and seeing the results immediately after every take brought so much joy and laughter to all of us. People say you always remember the most emotional moments in your life, and for me, playing with light painting with these great people will be one of those moments.
Well done ambassadors - Annissa, Bosco, CC, Gary, Grace, Jonathan, Kitty, Michael R, Michael W, Noelle, Sandy, Sitara and Tiffany for stepping forward and showing courage. Being vulnerable about your mental health challenges isn’t easy—I used to find it so hard. But the more we do it, the easier it becomes. So thank you for showing YOUR courage to me! This connection is our true nature as humans, so let’s keep going! And I hope more people join this great ambassador program.
Right here in the middle of Exchange Square—one of the most powerful and high-pressure places in the world—we are showing that being honest about our feelings and curious about our minds is now the real superpower. Let’s remember that our most delicate moments are often our most important. Take your time walking through the exhibition. I’m sure they will touch you and show you how to support yourself or someone else. Thank you Mind HK for bringing us together and helping us build a more supportive and loving community.
