There’s something just so special about proposals in York! Aston and I worked hard on the logistics of getting the perfect spot for his proposal and having the perfect place to have stunning proposal photographs in York.

That all changed last minute when a film crew had shut down the street we’d planned on using! Instead, some discrete messages meant we swapped locations and it honestly couldn’t have worked out better.

ITS NEVER COOKIE CUTTER.

Living and working in York, it’s important for me to see the same places with new eyes. I photograph around the Minster multiple times a month. People, quite rightly, love it and it’s a popular photo destination after a wedding It’s a stunning backdrop for portraits but I always try to give every couple a new take on the same view. Something different. Something I haven’t done for another couple before. It’s important to me that you get something unique to you and not just some cookie cutter, autopilot photos. It’s the difference between basic and bespoke and I’m all about making it bespoke ❤️

I took this photo on the bride’s grandpa’s 1950s film camera. 🥹

Anna’s grandpa had an old 1950s Rolleicord. I was already shooting their wedding on my own 1959 Rolleiflex so I couldn’t pass up the chance to take some photos using the camera her grandpa used to use.

The photo is by no means technically perfect but I love the connection the photograph symbolises. And in a way, it means grandpa got to see his granddaughter get married 🥹

I’ve been photographing weddings at for over a decade now and I still get excited about working here. Lucy & Andrew got married here last week and were blessed with the most perfect golden hour.

For me, I love that Priory Cottages is a working farm. The land changes month to month, year to year. With rotating crops and animals defining a new landscape every time I visit and bringing with it fresh opportunities for new ways to photograph this venue.

I relish in venues that give me creative stimulation every single time so that I get to create something new for every couple and never providing cookie cutter photos. Priory Cottages is absolutely perfect for that.
