I’m often asked if I photograph men too.

The answer is yes — occasionally.

My work is mainly with women, but really, what I do is help people feel more relaxed, more natural and more like themselves in front of the camera.

And men can hate having their photo taken too.

This is Neel from Willows Dental & Implant Centre — professional, friendly, approachable, and very much not a stiff corporate headshot.

So yes, I do photograph the occasional lovely man too.

Especially when they’re willing to trust me, relax into it… and let the photo feel like them.

If your current profile photo doesn’t feel like you — or you know it’s time for an update — I’d be very happy to chat.

Being visible online doesn’t mean becoming louder.

It doesn’t mean posting constantly.

Or turning yourself into some polished brand character.
Sometimes visibility is much quieter than that.

A current LinkedIn photo.
Images on your website that actually feel like you.
Letting people see the person behind the work.

For women in business, photos can feel like a big visibility step.

Not because we’re vain.

But because being seen asks something of us.

And that’s why the experience matters so much.

This is why your profile photo matters.

Charlotte’s previous headshot was perfectly fine — but it didn’t really show the warm, confident, approachable woman I spent the day with.

And that’s what I love about updating professional photos.

It isn’t about looking more polished.

It’s about looking more like you.

The version of you people actually meet.

Natural. Professional.
Confident. Genuinely you.

Thank you Charlotte Perry for letting me share this little before and after.

If your profile photo could do with an update - something natural, professional and genuinely you - do get in touch.

I’d love to help.

I didn’t want the SEEN page on my website to be a normal portfolio page.

Because yes, of course the photos matter.

But for me, it’s never just about the final image.

It’s about the woman in the photograph.

How she felt before.
What she was nervous about.
What helped her relax.
What shifted during the shoot.
And what she saw in herself afterwards.

That’s the bit I really wanted to show.

So SEEN is a little different.

Less of a gallery.

More of a quiet collection of women being photographed in a way that feels like them.

And honestly, I think it explains my work better than a standard portfolio ever could.

I'd love you to have a look - it feels like the bit behind the photos I’ve always wanted to show.

One of my favourite moments in a shoot is showing someone a photo on the back of the camera.

Not weeks later.

During the session.

Because something often shifts.

Their shoulders drop.
They smile.
They say, “Oh… wow, that's really me!”

And I absolutely love that moment.

Because it’s not vanity.

It’s recognition.

That quiet little feeling of:

“Oh. Maybe I can look like myself in photos.”

Today I did something for my own confidence.

I had my first ever makeup lesson!

I’m older than most people think — and while I’ll very happily take that, my good old mascara-and-lipstick routine wasn’t quite cutting it anymore.

I didn’t want to look different.
I didn’t want to look “done.”
I just wanted to feel a bit more like myself.

And today felt like such a lovely reminder that confidence doesn’t always come from huge changes.

Sometimes it’s a small tweak.
A little care.
A bit of time spent on yourself.

And that moment of looking in the mirror and thinking:

“Oh yes. There I am.”

So yes — I’d absolutely recommend K W Beauty. Not just if you’re thinking about having photos taken, but if you simply want to do something for yourself and give your confidence a little boost.

She made it feel really easy — no pressure, just lovely, practical tips on what to use and how to do it myself, in a way that still felt like me.

Thank you Katie — I absolutely loved it!

What if the camera isn’t actually the thing making you uncomfortable?

What if it’s the way you’ve experienced being photographed before?

The rushed photo.
The bad angle.
The “just relax!” when you were doing anything but relaxing.

No wonder so many women tense up.

But the camera itself isn’t the enemy.

In the right environment, it can show you something different.

A version of yourself you can actually recognise.

I’ve written more about this on the THOUGHTS page of my website, because honestly, this idea is right at the heart of my work.

Personal branding photos don’t need to make you look like everyone else.

They don’t need to feel glossy.

Or overly styled.

Or like you’ve borrowed someone else’s personality for the day.

The best ones feel like there’s a real person behind the work.

Someone with energy.
Presence.
Personality.

Not a “brand version” of you.

Just you, but seen clearly.

If your current photos feel a bit “old version of me”, have a look at the personal branding section on my (new!!!) website!

So many women say this to me before a shoot:

“I’m not good in front of the camera.”

And honestly?

You don’t need to be.
You don’t need to know how to stand.
Where to look.
What to do with your hands.
How to suddenly become camera-confident.

That’s what I’m there for.

A good shoot should help you settle into it.

Confidence in photos doesn’t usually appear on command.

It builds through the experience.

If this is exactly how you feel, you’re very welcome to message me. We can have a relaxed chat about it.
