I am excited to announce four new photography workshops for 2027 - two residential sessions in Scotland and two multi day sessions in Suffolk and online. Sunday sunrise on Hollesley Common. Not the usual carpet of purple heather, more brown with hints of mauve. The heat and lack of rain is sapping the life from the heath and whilst it still looks colourful due to the bracken it is sad to see the stressed and dying trees and the dry and parched heather.

While I was photographing I heard a loud cracking noise and a huge branch fell from one of the pine trees. There was no wind and the sound echoed around the heath. Reading up about it later it appears that heat stressed trees can shed large branches usually on still days. The natural world that I’ve come to know so well in Suffolk literally feels like it is falling apart.
