Last week of the summer holidays and the weather has returned to being decidedly British. Controversially, I prefer it. As much as I absolutely love lingering evenings and sunshine, I also love rain and the soft light that comes from overcast days. Summer isn’t over yet but I’m patiently looking forward to autumn, which is my favourite season of all. And I suppose the one small good thing to come from the drought is the hint of beautiful autumn colours already on our trees and in the bracken.
I can’t wait to capture some more of these colours in my upcoming shoots. I’ll be opening up October dates on my website next week.

I’m an absolute sucker for interesting light, and I’ll never get over the way lighting can completely change everything about a photograph.
So when this gorgeous puddle of evening light appeared on the stairs in our holiday cottage, I had to take advantage! Any other photographer parents say bonkers things like “go play in that little gap under the stairs!” 😆💫

Newborn photography at home is such an incredible privilege.
Because when you’re in the thick of it, you don’t realise you’re watching a chapter disappear.
Somewhere between the night feeds, the overflowing laundry basket and pacing the house in the early hours, the little details quietly begin to change.
Tiny fingers become bigger hands.
Curled-up sleepy cuddles become busy toddlers who never stop moving.
And the memories you thought you’d never forget slowly soften around the edges.
Photographs have a way of bringing them back into focus.
Not just what your baby looked like, but what those days felt like, in an incredibly personal way.🧸

Here’s one for the dads, the father figures, the grandads, and all the men who show up day after day with endless patience, terrible jokes, shoulders to sit on, and hands to hold.

You’re often the ones who arrive at a session insisting you don’t like having your photo taken, promising you’ll just stand at the back and stay out of the way. Yet somehow, by the end, you’re usually the ones chasing the kids, starting the games, and having just as much fun as everyone else.

Life would be nowhere near as fun without you. Thank you for the adventures, the laughter, the support, the lessons, and all the little things that often go unnoticed but mean the world.

Happy Father’s Day to every dad, grandad, stepdad, father figure, and role model. Today, we celebrate you. ❤️
