Today someones is getting off at the next stop on Prismās journey.
Sam Brown came to me in the middle of Covid, when nobody was hiring anyone for anything, and became Prism Studiosā very first employee. That alone should tell you something about the kind of gamble he was willing to take, and the kind of gamble I was lucky enough to win.
His first job on the books was dressing up as a Roman for a music video. No gentle onboarding, no easing in, straight into a toga in front of a camera, and he just got on with it. Thatās basically been Sam in a sentence ever since: whatever daft, ambitious, slightly chaotic thing we needed, he showed up and did it properly.
Heās our resident DJ, the fussiest eater I have ever met, and a man who owns actual shares in McDonaldās because he loves it that much which tracks, given his general devotion to anything involving chicken. He loves dogs more than most people love their own families, and yes, there was the infamous night he slept on someone elseās bum pillow. Iām not explaining that one further. If you know, you know.
Underneath all the daftness, though, Sam is one of the most creative and most loyal people Iāve worked with. He doesnāt do things by half, and he doesnāt do them for show. Over the years, the two of us have properly grown up together in this business figuring it out, getting it wrong, getting it right, and building Prism into something neither of us could have built alone.
He is a huge part of why we are where we are today, and thatās not an exaggeration, itās just the truth.
Now heās off doing his actual dream job as a dog photographer, and honestly, itās the most āSamā career move imaginable all that love for dogs finally has somewhere proper to go.
I couldnāt be prouder of him if I tried.
Thank you for everything, Sam Brown . First employee, forever mate.
