I think about this a lot when I’m behind a camera, as being photographed can feel surprisingly vulnerable. For me it has anyway.

I think we’re so used to performing. We know how we’re supposed to stand, how we’re supposed to smile, what a “good” photograph looks like. We polish ourselves a little. We put on the version of ourselves we think other people will like.

But the photographs I love most are rarely the polished ones....as you know!!!
I love the moments where nobody is trying to look like anything, they are just being.

That’s what I want to give people. Not photographs of the person they think they should be, a photographs of who they actually are!!!

Because to be truly seen is a pretty extraordinary thing. Maybe, years from now, that’s what these photographs will give you back, a little reminder....

Working alongside Kerry to capture the magic at Healing through horses is honestly a dream! This is so much more than people stroking horses and going for a walk. Kerry reads the horses body language, the humans body language, the horses in turn notice the humans body language! It really is magic. I can't explain the process and how truly magical this place is and the work Kerry does. You will have to wait for her Story Film!

Can we just take a sec to admire this beautiful garden!?!? This is wonderful Lorna's garden, who owns Castle Farm (the lavender fields of dreams!) So of corse the lavender is a key feature of her garden too! I popped in after this years Wild One's shoots to capture Lorna and her children in the garden :)

There is such a stereotype for a business owner. Polished, professional, beige….. probably not actually what you are at all!
The UK has a huge creative self-employed community!!! Add the fact that 1 in 5 women-led businesses are run by mums.

Thousands of women are turning their creativity into businesses, often building around the realities of family life.

The ultimate aim, is not necessarily photos where you look your best, but where you truly recognise yourself in them. Sounds easy enough? Sometimes. But not always. Becky and I have been friends/working alongside each other for I think seven years now. I absolutely adore her. She is super grounded, driven, whimsicle, creative, intelligent, funny, kind, caring and just a bloody good egg! She has been running for as long as I have been a photographer and she is so good at it.
I have taken photos of Becky for as long as we have been friends. BUT. They have never felt like Becky. I couldn't put my finger on it. I think, without either of us really realising it, she had become very good at giving me the version of herself she thought belonged in photographs. Professional, polished, smiling and happy.
Then comes our latest shoot. We hadn't seen each other for a while. With life, kids. The usual! We met at her beautiful cottage (which is so her!) and sat for a long while in the shade of a tree in her garden, talking about her business, where she wanted to go with it and how she came across in photos. Most of all though. Who her people are. She had had a run of bad client experiences that had had left her needing to be clear about her people. To do that we needed to capture HER. She is her people. Small business owners, founders, creatives and wild souls doing things their way!!!! Then we were getting up to go for a walk in the field with the camera and she ran inside to put on her new t-shirt. It represented who she was finally able to become! It was really magic. It was like this t-shirt unlocked the door to Becky. For the first time in seven years she was her in the photos.

Lovely, easy, relaxing trip to pick some flowers and eat pizza for my parents birthday.......LOL. These photos are a really great example of not believing everything you see on social media. There were really lovely parts don't get me wrong. But I will need 4-5 business days to recover.
Highly recommend flower picking at though.
Probably a really dreamy evening without three spicy kids in tow!!
