New kids on the block! 🧡

I don't think I've properly introduced you all to the triplets I kept from my last litter - meet Socks, Olive and Clover! 🍀

These three lovely ladies are now 3 months old and are absolute bundles of joy.

As I mentioned in a previous post, all paintings will be pre-made for the time being, so I'm excited to share the first three pieces created by this trio!

Because these are pre-made rather than commission based, they're be available at a slightly lower price. I'm hoping to reopen commissions with custom colour requests later in the year, but for now we're working hard to create plenty of ready made artwork for you all 🧡

These three canvas magnets are all on the website now. Every order includes the original painting, and a 6 x 4 inch printed photo of the little four pawed artist and their work as shown below!

❗ PHOTOSHOOTS TEMPORARILY ON HOLD ❗

I wanted to share a quick update regarding my pet portrait photoshoots. Unfortunately, these are currently on hold while I await a referral to a spinal specialist.

Although it may not always seem obvious, pet photography involves a significant amount of bending, kneeling, and adjusting positions to capture those perfect angles. At the moment, whilst I technically *can* do this, it is painful for me to do and I’m unable to put any strain on my back. I’ve been signed off work and am under strict medical instructions to rest while I await referral.

This hasn’t been an easy decision, but ensuring a full and proper recovery is really important so that I can return to doing what I love.

I’ll be sure to keep you updated and will announce as soon as bookings can safely resume. I'll also be doing my best to fulfil any orders made however they may take a little longer as getting up into Tiny Paws HQ requires a ladder so I may have to recruit help!

In the meantime I'll be sharing some photos of the rats being rats, and just general things to keep myself occupied, and hopefully make you all smile.

Thank you for understanding. This really wasn't the big relaunch of tiny paws I had in mind but my physical health has to come first.

🐀 Tiny Paws Update 🐀

As things in my life are changing and becoming busier, I'm prioritizing different things and unfortunately, Tiny Paws isn't something I'm enjoying as much as I used to anymore.

I think last year, when we went viral again and went on TV, whilst this was an absolutely incredible experience, it burnt me out and I didn't realize it at the time.

So, to combat this and hopefully get back into loving what we do here again, I'm changing the way we do things slightly.

• Art commissions will sadly no longer be available. Previously you could order commissions by a certain rat and choose colours. These are the most time consuming and with my shifts at work and general life, I have been finding it hard to find the time to complete these.
• Rat art will now be pre made. Each month I'll get certain members of the Tiny Paws team to create some unique art pieces with a professional studio photo of them alongside their work. They'll go live on the website and can be shipped straight away.
• Toy subscription boxes will be stopping. Whilst I love that people want Tiny Paws toys monthly, again, it's so hard to find the time to create each subscription box when the payments come through at different times in the month with my working pattern.
• Mystery boxes will take their place instead and you can choose either natural or colourful themes. These are pre made and ready to ship.
• I'll be making a lot more pre made toys for the website so you can purchase toys that are ready to ship straight away. I will still offer made to order custom colour toys, as these have a turnaround time of 1–2 weeks which is easier to complete.
• I'll be promoting my pet portrait photoshoots a lot more as this is primarily what I'd like to do more of, and where my passion lies. I'll also be trying to arrange pop up photoshoot events around the country.
• I will also be removing the website completely when my subscription ends. My website is very costly to run, and it isn't particularly sustainable anymore with the amount of orders we get. I'll be moving everything over to my Etsy account which is where it all started, and photoshoots can be booked via a booking website or by messaging me.

These changes haven’t been easy to make, but they’re necessary so I can bring back the joy and creativity that Tiny Paws was built on in the first place. I want to create things I love again, without feeling overwhelmed or burnt out.

I'm currently doing the admin side for the website and Etsy, and then I'll get to work on all things pre made and share once everything is live.

This next chapter is all about making things more sustainable, more manageable, and falling back in love with my little business I've worked so hard on over the years.

4 years ago today, I updated my photoshoot prices. They haven’t increased since.

But why?

My photography journey started long before I picked up a camera professionally. It began with my Grandad and my Dad, who ran a very successful wedding photography business. In 2014, when my Dad passed away, I picked up his camera and restarted the business in his honour.
Losing my favourite person in the world completely changed how I see photographs. They aren’t just images - they’re memories. They’re moments frozen in time. They’re the closest thing we have to holding onto those we love forever.

Over the last decade, I’ve lost my fair share of rats, and my beloved dog Bobby Socks. I am so incredibly grateful that I took hundreds of photos.

That’s why I’ve chosen to keep my prices as accessible and affordable as possible and they haven't increased for 4 years.

Of course, my pricing covers the real costs - professional equipment, insurance, editing time, experience - but I don’t charge the earth. Because I truly believe professional photographs shouldn’t be a luxury. They should be something everyone can have.

And on that note...2026 bookings are now open. Head over to the website to view availability and book your photoshoot session! Sessions starting at just £30. Shoot price includes ALL final images delivered via an online album.

Memories matter. And they deserve to be captured 🤍📸

I let the social media slide again...I am still here working in the background.

I've been busy with art commission orders and lots of toy orders, as well as sorting through Tiny Paws HQ and having a clearout.

This year, I'm wanting to bring back my photography and promote myself more because I've been rubbish at that! Photography and my handmade pet toys are something I want to get out there more so I'm working on scheduling some posts! I'll be making a fair few changes this year to try and make my little business more manageable alongside everything else I do.

Whilst I'm here, scrolling through Facebook I see so many small business pages posts and they are very clearly made with AI.

One thing I want to make clear - every single post you see on my business page is written by myself. It is not run through chat GPT, it's straight from me. I think as a small business, it's important to be authentic and using AI to make social media posts feels fraudulent to me.

I like to get to know my followers, and I'm sure they like to get to know me too! I'm a human, not a robot. And I work hard not only on what I make, but on my social media posts too. I believe that one of the biggest parts of running a small business is how you present yourself and manage social media to promote what you do. If you can't do that authentically, then I personally don't respect that.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for some new bits and bobs over the next few weeks, and the relaunching of Tiny Paws photoshoots ☺️

Today's job has been photographing the rats with their art, and completing a few cage toy orders!

26 photos taken, 4 toy orders complete, then more packing tomorrow before arranging things for a stall I'm having for my other business on Sunday ☺️

I’m now back (early) from my well-deserved break, and all outstanding queries have been responded to.

That said, I want to address something important.

I’m genuinely upset and disheartened by the number of rude and accusatory messages I received while I was away. It was very clearly stated across my website and social media that I was taking a short break. I also made it clear that subscription customers were not affected, as those orders are prepared in advance and sent as normal. Despite this, I was still called a scammer amongst other things simply for being unavailable during my announced time off - which is unacceptable. I'm allowed time off. I'm allowed to not be accessible 24/7. I'm allowed to have a life outside of my small business.

I’ve also received the usual messages regarding Christmas delivery times. To clarify:
Art commissions have a 4–6 week turnaround during busy periods, which is clearly stated in every product description. I had a huge amount of orders placed mid December. I went above and beyond my standard processing time to complete orders early in an attempt to help as many people as possible in case they were purchased as gifts, but there is never a guarantee of delivery on time during the festive period.

Refund requests based solely on an item not arriving by Christmas will not be accepted when the processing time was clearly communicated at the point of purchase. Please do not be rude to me when it is not my fault you ordered a custom item which can take up to 6 weeks to be dispatched in the middle of December, expecting it to arrive on time for Christmas with postal delays.

Whilst on the subject of delivery:

If an order is marked as delivered, I can see the tracking just as clearly as you can. Please do not attempt to take advantage of a small business by falsely claiming non-delivery. This is exactly why all orders are now sent using tracked postage only. If you genuinely cannot find your order and believe it has been stolen, I always advise to file a police report and get a crime number. Ironically, I never hear back from anyone when I say this. Please do not lie to me.

All orders that were placed after the Christmas period have been created this week, and will be dispatched in a few days time. All of my outstanding orders will then be cleared to zero.

I have, and will continue to, refund people who are rude towards me in relation to the turnaround time for orders. It's very clearly stated on the website. I do not deserve to be spoken to poorly, and it's inevitable that the people who speak to me in such a way will never be pleased, even when they receive their order.

If my taking a short break from my small business is genuinely an inconvenience, I encourage you to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Your world isn't going to fall apart without a painted canvas by a rat. I don't sell items that are necessary for day to day living - they're not an essential. My mental well-being comes first, alongside my rats welfare, and if that's something you're unhappy with, please don't engage with us.

At the end of the day, I am a human being. I am entitled to take a break. I run Tiny Paws, work night shifts in a demanding job, run two other small businesses, breed rats responsibly, and still try to maintain a healthy personal life with family, friends, and my beloved pets, and recently have been struggling with horrendous insomnia which has impacted my ability to do normal day to day things as I have absolutely zero energy. I am doing my absolute best. Alongside that, the rats have their own health issues from time to time, they don't always want to paint, etc etc.

Last year my business went viral for the third time, and we ended up being on the radio and TV. It was the busiest year we've had orders wise and I truly burnt myself out, so some decent time off was much needed, and I will not be made to feel bad for it.

Thank you to those who are patient, kind, and supportive. You are truly appreciated, and I'm excited for what I have planned for this year of Tiny Paws 🎨

Hi everyone 👋

I hope you all had a lovely festive period ✨

I just wanted to pop by and let you know that I’ll be taking an extended break until February.

As usual, the lead-up to Christmas was incredibly busy for my little business, and things haven’t slowed down much since - with lots of orders coming in from Christmas gifts and website purchases.

The past year has been absolutely wild. Since going on TV, I’ve sent out well over a thousand orders. While I’m so incredibly grateful, I also want to be honest and say that I’m just one person behind it all, and the volume has been a lot to manage, and I’m feeling pretty burnt out.

I never want my business to stop being something I love and enjoy, so I’ll be using this time not only to rest, but also to figure out a better way to manage large influxes of orders in the future, so things can be more sustainable going forward.

I’ll be stepping back from social media and emails during this time to take a proper break.

Orders will resume and be fulfilled from February.

Monthly subscription orders for toys have been made in advance and will be sent as normal.

Thank you so much for your continued support, understanding, and kindness - it honestly means the world 🤍

See you in February 💫

That’s us wrapped up for the year! ✨
All orders have now been made and sent out.

Any orders placed between now and the New Year will be dispatched on the first weekend of January.

We’re taking a much needed break after a very busy festive period, and I’ll also be stepping back from social media messages and emails during this time.

Lots to come in the new year from us, so keep your eyes peeled!

Thank you all so much for your continued support and choosing Tiny Paws items for festive gift giving - it truly means the world 🤍

🐀 Sceville babies looking for homes 🏠

I will have bucks and does ready for their new homes at the beginning of January.

If you're interested in homing Sceville rats, please complete an application form and I'll get back to you within a few days.

Allocations will be finalized after Christmas once I have chosen my keepers from the younger litters. I know how many will be staying, so can allocate homes based on numbers, it'll just be variety and litters to be confirmed.
