Who in their right mind would set fire to this?

It's one thing for our countryside to have been made as volatile and flammable as it is, but for people to now deliberately set it ablaze is unforgivable.

Mynydd Drummau is to many an obscure hill but to my community, it's our mountain. There's not a single person I know who hasnt been here, climbed up the insane amount of steps and looked upon the place we all call home.

It's a special place, one that's home to incredibly rare temperate rainforest, pockets of bluebells, nesting red kites and buzzards and countless more wildlife. It boasts some crazy views, from Pen y Fan all the way to Mumbles and even across the channel to Devon on a clear day.

It's a shame for such a remarkable place to be treated in this way

This week I went to get my phone repaired, which meant I had an hour to kill without any phone to distract me. I walked 15 minutes to the Gnoll Country Park and sat watching the gulls on the lake before heading back for a stunning coffee in Monty's.

Just a quick walk had me walking away with these photos that weren't planned or anticipated and yet I'm still really happy with them. It's always important to just bring your camera along and to take the time to notice what's around you.

Noticing how a photo of common black headed gulls that you might see everyday can also be about reflections, textures, light and behaviours. Ultimately it's about how a day can be made by simply walking around the park or by exploring the places closest to you whenever you have the time.

While we argue the science and close our eyes, the fire will continue to build. A fire we were told will come. While we point our fingers at fools and their BBQs, we'll refuse to even wonder who turned our grasses into match sticks.

I have now seen the top 5 warmest summers in recorded history within my lifetime. This is the future that me and so many others have been gifted and all I have heard is people telling me that it's not real while now I stand and watch the country I love burn.

While I only wish to share photos here that capture the beauty of Wales, that very beauty is now at risk. Our ecosystems, our wildlife, even our towns and cities, are at risk.
