The Three Giants of the Dales. 🏔️

Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, and the mighty Kilnsey Crag. These limestone titans define our landscape, but there’s something uniquely intimate about the "Gateway" view at Kilnsey. It’s where human craftsmanship (those tireless stone walls) meets the raw power of nature.

Own a view that dominates the vista of Upper Wharfedale. Perfect for anyone who leaves a piece of their heart in Yorkshire every time they visit.

The Strid, Bolton Abbey Woods, North Yorkshire

In my view, the most mesmerising piece of riverbank in the whole of the UK, at least the bits I’ve visited. And in many people’s opinion the most dangerous stretch of river in the entire world. Claiming a 100% fatality rate for those who entered the waters it is not surprising that, if you visit.

I give you the strongest warning to take extreme care, Take notice of the warning signs, keep animals and children under full control.

Having said that it is exceptionally beautiful and intriguing piece of nature's
creativity and powers.

Looking for the perfect family walk this weekend? 🥾

Discover the mythical hiding place of Jennet, the Fairy Queen! Janet’s Foss is a stunning waterfall tucked away in a limestone glade just a short, pleasant walk from Malham village.

Why we love it:
• The Walk: A gentle, pushchair-friendly path through ancient woodland.
• The View: Crystal clear waters cascading from Gordale Beck into a deep, turquoise pool.
• The Magic: Keep an eye out for the cave behind the falls—legend says the Fairy Queen lives there!

Follow the stream from the village and enjoy the sights and sounds of Malhamdale at its finest. 🌿 And afterwards perhaps visit our online shop for a little something to decorate your home or office.

How does a Robin survive a -5°C night ?

Well, sadly they don't. They can lose up to 10% of their body weight in a single freezing night just staying warm and if that happens a few nights in a row. That coconut shell isn't just a treat for them; it’s a lifeline.

I spent three hours in the cold on a number of nights to gain this little guy's trust so I could capture this 'supper-time' moment. I gained his/her trust but also almost gained frost-bitten hands and face. At least I had a nice warm home to retreat to afterwards. The least I could do was replenish the nuts, seeds and mealworms in quantity to try and ensure I would hear birdsong in my garden the following Spring.

Featured in the "Natural World" section on my website, and also available as a number of products in the online shop on my website. View now to support local wildlife photography.

Elevate Your Space with a Whitby Icon 🖼️

Looking for the perfect focal point for your wall? This landscape-format study of Whitby’s East Cliff captures the warm, evening glow over the Old Town and Abbey ruins.

Shown here is how it stands today BUT who remembers the flying bridge down to the East Pier. A bold study in concrete now long since gone replaced by a gentle slope from the cottage left of shot.

Available as a print to frame or a canvas print. I can even make it into a 300 piece jigsaw or a set of 6 drinks coasters

Nature’s constantly changing view of the Yorkshire Dales in Autumn
It takes a bit of luck and a lot of patience to catch Farnhill Wood like this. The "misty light" only lasts for a few minutes before the sun climbs too high. I captured this scene just as a Roe deer stag emerged to try and find his morning meal amongst the dying vegetation—a rare glimpse into the quiet rhythms of the woodland.

I’ve made this collection available as high-quality prints and canvases so you can own a piece of this Yorkshire magic.

• Small Prints: Perfect for a personal reminder of nature’s beauty.
• Statement Canvases: Ideal for bringing the outdoors into your office or living room.

Products of a Yorkshire Icon.

Is there any sight more iconic than the road through Kilnsey? The perfect contrast of traditional dry-stone walling against the massive, overhanging face of the Crag. It’s the view that tells you you’ve truly arrived in the heart of the Dales.

Capture that "Sunday Drive" feeling forever. Here are a few examples of the products I have produced using my image of Kilnsey Crag Gateway. All are available to view and order online in my website shop in various sizes to suit any space.

You are welcome to visit the shop at Steve Davison Photography/shop. I look forward to seeing you there.

Nature’s Greatest Comeback Story ✨

In the 19th century, a violent storm ravaged this corner of Wharfedale, leaving behind a landscape so scarred it was named the Valley of Desolation.

Fast forward to today, and you’d never guess it’s dark history. Nature has painstakingly rebuilt this habitat, replacing fallen trees with a thriving canopy and silent slopes with the roar of Posforth Gill waterfalls. It’s a powerful reminder of how resilient the Yorkshire Dales can be.

Whether you’re a local or a first-time visitor, this walk onto Barden Moor is a must for anyone who loves the sound of rushing water and the smell of fresh moorland air.

Keep the memory of your visit alive with a Classic Print for Framing or Gallery Canvas to hang in your home or office. Visit our website to view images, prices and sizes.
