A lovely way to finish the last couple of days at the studio ❤️

One of the things people don't often talk about when you're self-employed is that it can be quite a lonely job at times. Many days it's just me at my desk editing, with plenty of coffee for company and a very long to-do list waiting for me!

But over the last couple of days I've seen several clients who have been coming back to me for years, and it reminded me how lucky I am.

I genuinely love those extra few minutes after an appointment when we sit down with a coffee, have a chat, catch up on life and hear what's been happening since I last saw you. Watching families grow and becoming a small part of their story is something I'll never take for granted.

So today I'm feeling very grateful for all of the wonderful clients who choose me to capture their memories, and who make this job about so much more than just taking photographs. ❤️

Colour or black & white? 🤍

Colour highlights the tiny details - delicate skin tones, little fingers and toes, and just how small a newborn really is.

Black & white strips everything back to the emotion. No distractions, just parents hands holding something precious.

I honestly can't decide which I prefer for this image.

Sitting confidently, clapping proudly and showing off that gorgeous personality ✨

Around their first birthday, little ones are full of confidence, curiosity and character. They're discovering the world around them, learning new skills every day and often delightfully pleased with themselves about it too!

This stage doesn't last long, which is why I love creating timeless portraits that focus entirely on them - no distractions, just beautiful images that capture exactly who they are right now. 💕

These days pass so quickly.

One minute you're holding a tiny newborn in your arms, and the next they're running, talking, starting school, and growing more independent with every passing year.

That's why I always encourage parents to step into the frame.

Your baby won't remember these early days, but one day they'll look back and see how they were loved, held, protected and cherished from the very beginning.

Theodore was just 13 days old when these photographs were taken. Such a tiny chapter in a family's story, but one that's worth remembering forever. ❤️

One is such a lovely age to photograph 💕

Their personalities are starting to shine, their little expressions change by the second, and every smile feels completely genuine.

They're no longer tiny babies, but they're not quite toddlers either. It's that wonderful in-between stage where curiosity, mischief and sweetness all come together.

And those big eyes and cheeky little grins? They change far too quickly.

This age doesn't last long, which is exactly why it's so special to capture. ✨

Theodore gave us some absolutely priceless expressions during his newborn session! ❤️

Getting those awake images wasn't easy though... this little man was determined to sleep through most of the session, and honestly, I can't blame him! 😴

But every now and then he'd open those eyes, flash the tiniest smile, or pull one of those wonderfully expressive newborn faces that parents never want to forget.

That's one of the things I love most about newborn photography. Alongside all the sleepy, curled-up portraits, there are often these little glimpses of personality that appear for just a second before they're gone again.

And Theodore certainly didn't disappoint. 🥰

One whole year of smiles, milestones and making memories 🎂💕

This little lady had an absolute blast celebrating her first birthday! From carefully investigating her cake to fully embracing the mess, she definitely understood the assignment 😄

And when the cake smashing was done, the splash session was a huge hit too! Bubbles, giggles and lots of happy splashing made for the perfect finish to her session.

Cake Smash & Splash sessions are such a lovely way to celebrate this milestone and capture your little one's personality at this fun, cheeky age.

Beatrice turned ONE 🩷🎂

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this lovely family many times over the years, so I already knew soft neutrals and n**e tones would be perfect for her first birthday cake smash.

I created the set with delicate florals and pretty blush tones to keep everything timeless, elegant and beautifully in keeping with the style they love ✨

And Beatrice absolutely stole the show 😍 from her gorgeous portraits, to cake-covered hands and all the bubbly fun in the little tub.

The beautiful cake was chosen by Beatrice’s family from Gill's Cupcake Corner and it worked so perfectly with the styling 🤍

One of my favourite things about these sessions is making each one feel personal and creating something that feels just right for each family.
