New wildlife prints releasing Monday!

One captures a moment of pure new life — a tiny coot chick, only days old, floating near the reeds. All fluff and uncertainty, and full of possibility.

The second shows something quieter, deeper: a mother goose keeping watch as her goslings sleep in a warm huddle at her feet.

These are the moments I wait for. The ones that remind me why stillness matters.

Both are now available in my shop as fine art prints — full of story, perfect for anyone who finds peace in the wild.

Spotted this soft, two-tone feather nestled in the grass — a classic sign of nearby waterfowl, likely from a Canada Goose.

Notice the rich chocolate brown tip fading into a fluffy gray base? That downy texture tells us this isn’t a flight feather, but a body feather, probably from the flank or breast — designed to insulate, not lift. Canada Geese molt their body feathers each year, often leaving quiet traces like this near water.

💡 Tracking Tip:
Feathers aren’t just pretty — they’re clues. Their structure, size, and wear can reveal:

What part of the body they came from

Whether the bird was preening, molting, or predated

Who's been using the area and when

Next time you're out walking by a canal or pond, pause and scan the grass. You might just find a story in a single feather.

Perched like a sentinel.

I spotted this grey heron high in the trees — not a place you usually expect to see them. But herons often roost well above ground when they’re resting or keeping watch over feeding territory.

The way they blend in — still and silent — is a masterclass in patience.

Ever seen one perched like this before? Tell me where in the comments ⬇️

Species spotlight: Canada Geese and their Goslings.

Few things say 'spring' quite like a gaggle of baby geese!

Canada geese are known for their strong family bonds. These geese mate for life and share the care of their young equally. Goslings can walk, swim and feed themselves almost imdediately after hatching, but they never go far from mum and dad.

At this time of the year you will normally find them moving or swimming in lines with one parent leading the group and another standing guard. It is an incredible example of natures team work and something people love photographing!

Have you captured a special moment with a family of geese? Drop your pictures in the comments I'd love to see them!

Hidden in Plain Sight

We set out on the Long Mynd with one goal: to find the wild ponies.

The hills stretched wide before us as we entered the valley heading for the waterfall. For those that have never been, the Long Mynd is the kind of wide open rolling hills that takes your breath away every time. We followed the path, eyes scanning the ridges, and then, near a weathered, fallen tree, we saw them.

A small group, grazing quietly, their coats catching the light and our attention. The tree, twisted and battered by time and the wind, made the moment feel even more timeless. It was like we'd stepped into a story, the ponies house, this was their place in the world, where they had been for centuries.

They didn’t seem to mind me there. One lifted its head, flicked an ear, then went back to grazing. It felt like permission to stay a little longer.

We went looking for wild ponies. We found them, and something else we hadn’t expected: humility.
