For me, small weddings are as much of a priviledge to photograph as larger ones. I give every one of my couples the same attention & focus, respecting their choice of the number of hours they'd like me to be there. I have an hourly package that allows each couple to book me for the length of time that works best for their wedding plans and priorities.
S & A wanted to have an intimate wedding with approx 45 guests, and Ludlow Castle as their backdrop. As there was no travel involved between the ceremony and the drinks reception location, a 3-3.5h coverage gave us all the time we needed for the core moments of their wedding, including time for just the couple and myself in the castle grounds for some stunning bride & groom photos.
We were blessed with THE best light towards the end of their 3h coverage. Despite it being a "middle of the day" coverage (2-5pm), which in the summer it means very harsh light for the couple photos time, thanks to the fact that it was actually March, we had golden hour light close to 5pm - happy dance was done by Cat šš»
If you're considering an intimate wedding, follow that inner voice and go for it. It can be every bit as romantic as a full day wedding. And if it is a summer's day you're going for, perhaps consider a bride & groom photoshoot after the day, somewhere beautiful in nature, in the golden light of the evening, just the two of you in your wedding attire and me š„¹ Because the softer, warmer evening light brings 50% of the atmosphere of your photos, and it's worth it.
