Spent a few hours yesterday in and amongst the winds and rain photographing gannets out to sea. I was lucky on a few occasions that the gannets came in quite close… but even with a telephoto lens I’ve still cropped in to fill the frame. Tricky to photograph in flight but a great few hours watching them soar and dive for fish.

Super lovely to receive my copy of the Scottish Nature Photography Awards Year Portfolio Book. My image ‘where winter lands’ made at Luskentyre Beach, Harris was awarded first place in the sea & coast category. Also in the book are my two shortlisted images in the same category made at Small Beach, during a winter sunrise in Harris & a storm image from Port of Ness, Isle of Lewis. It was fantastic to have an image made just a few minutes from home recognised in the Botanical category, cotton Breeze and an abstract image of sea birds made at Lower Shader 🩵💙 Thete are so many incredible images from all over Scotland in the book. We are about to launch our ‘Shoot For You’ project 🙌🏻

To say a huge thank you for your support with the gallery, we’re giving something back.

Pop into the gallery, write down a location somewhere on the island that you’d love us to photograph and drop it in the box. At the end of each month we’ll draw one at random, head out and make an image for you. We’ll also share a little behind the scene footage and you can even dedicate it to someone special if you like. Open now for September submissions.

Something a little different to the coast…
Testing out the Z100-400mm lens on Sunday, a pretty grey over cast day with dazzles of light breaking through the clouds. Towards the end of our trip out rain moved in and created some beautiful atmosphere against the mountains…

Good Morning, hope everyone is well 🩵 It’s a little while since I posted some images so thought I’d share some recent ones. A mixture of locations from Port of Ness, Mangersta & Dalbeg, all located on the Isle of Lewis.
I recently got a new camera and have enjoyed the opportunity to head out and enjoy the coastline. Looking forward to dark skies soon and the second half of the year 💙
