We're on the cusp of entering the 'ber months, and autumn is already on the horizon here at Calanais. โณ

The days are beginning to shift, the light is changing, and there's a quiet sense that the landscape is preparing for a new season. โœจ

Before we know it, the colours of autumn will be settling across the landscape, bringing a whole new atmosphere to Calanais.

Here's to those final golden days of summer sun (we hope) - and to everything autumn has in store. โ˜€๐Ÿ‚

Will you be visiting to see the low-lying light and long shadows of the stone giants?

Full moon over Gress tonight, and the island gave us a show.

There's something about a full moon on this coastline that pulls the mind straight to old stories. The Romans called her Diana, goddess of the moon and the hunt, wild, untamed, and just as at home prowling the night as commanding it. Standing on the sand at Gress this evening, camera in hand, it wasn't hard to feel her watching back.

The light had that eerie, silvered quality you only get out here: the sea gone to pewter, the sand glowing faintly blue, every rock and footprint throwing a long, strange shadow. It's a light that makes the familiar feel foreign, like the island is showing you a version of itself that only exists after dark.

And with the nights finally drawing in, the stars are coming home too. Months of endless simmer dim gave way tonight to a sky properly full of them, scattered around that huge, bright moon like an audience. There's nowhere quite like the Hebrides for it.

Eight frames from tonight's shoot at Gress, wide views across the sand and a closer look at Diana herself. Hope they carry a bit of that eerie, otherworldly stillness with them.
