OPEN CALL šŸ“£

It’s that time of year again folks, our annual photobook is back!

Once again, we are creating a photobook to celebrate the images created by our community. We are looking for images that speak to the theme of ā€œJourneyā€ to be published in our 2026 photobook later on this year. Images can be literal or abstract interpretations of our theme.

This is a great opportunity that is open to all - amateurs, students, and professionals alike! All are welcome to get involved šŸ™ŒšŸ¼

Submissions are open now and close on Wednesday 30th September 2026. To submit your image, please visit our website (linked below), and be sure to check out the terms and conditions beforehand.

We look forward to seeing your images! 🤩

We are delighted to be sponsoring a meeting of SNAP at Made in Stirling on Saturday 5th from 1-5pm. Stirling is fast becoming a focal point (ouch) for photography and analogue in particular. To celebrate for this day only there will be 10% off everything in the shop !

The Scottish Network for Analogue Photographers (SNAP) is an informal, twice-yearly, gathering of folk passionate about analogue photography in all its forms.

This is a FREE event, and it moves it around the country. Our 2nd meeting is being held during the Stirling Photography Festival and is sponsored by Analogue Photography in Stirling.

It’s an agenda free afternoon where photographers can meet like-minded folk, have conversations and develop local networks. We don’t do guest speakers or critiques; we simply encourage people to meet up, chat, drink some tea and coffee, and look at work people may have brought along (there will be tables to lay things out on).

The meet-up will be from 1pm to 5pm in ā€˜Made in Stirling’, 44 King Street, FK8 1AY (First Floor). All welcome!

For more information about SNAP please visit: https://snap.scot/ and join our mailing list

Hope to see you there :)

very very nice Leica M3 from 1956 double stroke, clear bright finder, vulcanite intact and good, summitar 50mm f2 collapsible, unusual shutter release and original leather case. Original cap. Widely considered to be one of the finest 35mm cameras ever made. I agree !

The festival team are delighted to have David Mitchell lead our Analogue Weekend again this year. He has been a long time supporter of the festival, hosting speakers, leading workshops and attending events as an enthusiastic participant.

David regularly had a camera in his hand for forty years. Over the past ten years, he has returned to analogue processes, ranging from 35mm to 8x10 formats, and increasingly alternative processes. He is passionate about the history of photography and photographic technology, and collects cameras and historic images. His work revolves around places - the built and natural environment, and street photography.

David is behind Analogue Photography Stirling - providing analogue equipment to current and new users. He is also a founding Trustee of Stirling Photo - the new charity for photography in Stirling.

sometimes the modern is so perfect it has little character - its one of the reasons analogue appeals to many. This is an old petzval lens that would have been used to make portraits at the end of the 19th Century. It has probably never been used for well over a century before today. As ever it takes a bit of footering to get the lens to mount on a board which can be fitted to a modern large format camera.

Despite the age, the lens imperfections and the challenges - the image is imperfectly perfect.

busy today sorting new shop stock for tomm - lots of accessories like filters and cable releases and about 20 lenses in m42, K mount and nikon….. they will land tomm at Creative Stirling

once finished spent a few hours getting the 1850s Vogel of Philadelphia Petzval lens mounted on to a lens board to try out on 8x10….. Darkbox Images calculated the lens as an f 4 because he is a clever boy and then i bribed the kids to pose…..

not hugely hopeful as no shutter means exposing by hand ….. It has probably not made an image in over 100yrs……very cool.
