There's always something special to discover along the fields and waterways of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

On this visit I was lucky enough to spend time with a curious rabbit keeping a watchful eye from the grass, a tiny duckling making ripples across the water, and brood of cygnets by the bank.

Not sure if this guy was doing yoga or directing me to the emergency exit.

The woods are absolutely full of foxgloves right now, adding beautiful splashes of colour among the trees and ferns.

This one stood out to me as it reached skyward beneath the forest canopy. Shooting from a low angle helped emphasise its height, with the towering trees providing the perfect backdrop to showcase its striking pink blooms.

Look closely at this stump on the ground. You are looking at a squirrel's personal dining table.

Scientists call this pile of chewed pine cones a midden. Squirrels sit up here to watch for danger while they eat. They quickly peel back the woody scales to get the tasty seeds inside.

Photos from my walk in Ainsdale today.

It's always amazing how much variety and character can be found in a single day of photography. Every subject tells its own story.

Today in the woods, I slowed down long enough to notice the tiny worlds hiding beneath the canopy.
Sharp edges glowing in the sunlight, delicate seeds waiting for the wind, and the quiet beauty of wild plants most people walk right past.

These little scenes remind me that nature doesn’t have to be grand to be beautiful — sometimes the smallest details tell the best stories.

While walking along the beach, I spotted this old piece of brickwork and stone covered in seaweed and saltwater erosion — but from the right angle, it almost looks like the face of an ancient civilisation carved into the rocks.

Can you see the face too, or is it just me? 👀
