Time, Photographers Please.
This isn't the post we ever wanted to write.
At the end of August, Skia Fos Studio will be closing its doors for the final time.
Sadly, the time has come to say, "Just one more shot," for the very last time.
Like many small businesses, we've been hit by rising business rates and increasing costs across the board. Add to that one of us waiting for an operation and needing a few months away from the studio, while the other has increasing family commitments, and we've had to make one of the hardest decisions we've ever faced. It wasn't made overnight, and it certainly wasn't made lightly, but unfortunately the timing and circumstances have brought us to this point.
Before we close the doors, there are a lot of people we'd simply like to say thank you to.
To every client who trusted us with your headshots, portraits, family photographs, business branding and commercial photography, thank you. You chose us to capture important moments, represent your businesses and tell your stories. We genuinely couldn't have asked for better clients, and it's been a privilege to photograph every one of you.
To all the photographers who hired our studio spaces, thank you for supporting us and for recommending us to others. Every booking, every kind word and every recommendation helped keep a small independent studio going, and we'll always be grateful for that.
To every model who gave up their time to support our socials, Snap & Chat on Saturday mornings, Hump Day Hangout on Wednesday evenings and the many studio events we've organised over the years, thank you. You helped create a welcoming place where photographers could learn, practise, build confidence and enjoy their photography. It has been an absolute pleasure working with every one of you.
To the Skia Fos community, thank you for making the studio more than just four walls and some lights. You made it a place where friendships were built, confidence grew and photography was enjoyed without pressure. We hope everyone leaves as a happier and more confident Proper Tog than when they first walked through the door.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has followed our journey. Every like, every share, every comment, every recommendation and every conversation has meant more than you probably realise. Supporting a small business doesn't always mean spending money. Sometimes it's simply helping more people discover what we do, and for that we are incredibly grateful.
One final thing...
Don't unfollow us just yet.
Keep an eye on this page because this isn't the end of the journey. If the right location presents itself and the timing is right, we'd love to open the doors again one day.
There may even be a few changes behind the scenes, with new faces helping shape the next chapter while keeping the same friendly approach that Skia Fos has always been about.
For now, we're simply turning the page, not closing the book.
The studio may be closing, but Damien will continue doing what he's always done, photographing people and businesses. We're also hoping the socials can continue in a different venue if that's something the community would like to support. Photography has always been about people, not buildings.
So stay with us... because we have a feeling the best chapter might still be waiting to be written.
Thank you all. The SD card is now full.
