Can collars, leads or harnesses be removed? 🐾

Yes, sometimes they can!

Here's Bertie showing you exactly what I mean. 😊

For this photograph, I've removed his tag, tracker and lead, along with the usual editing I would do to finish a portrait.

Leads and simple collars can often be removed quite convincingly during editing.

Harnesses are a little different. Because they're larger and sit against the dog's body and fur, they can be much more difficult to remove naturally.

So, if your dog normally wears a harness, I always recommend bringing them along in their usual harness for walking and, if they're comfortable, switching to a simple collar when we're taking photographs.

But the most important thing is always your dog's safety and comfort. ❤️

You don't need to worry about having the perfect collar, perfect lead or perfect dog before booking a session. That's what I'm here for.

I'm so glad I asked Simon to take this photograph. ❤️

This is Boo and me, back in 2022.

I didn't know it at the time, but this would probably be the last photograph I have of the two of us together.

And I'm so incredibly grateful I have it.

It's not technically perfect. It wasn't taken during a photography session and there wasn't a carefully chosen location.

But none of that matters.

Because I'm in it with her.

I can see her. I can feel that moment. And I can remember exactly what it was like to have my beautiful girl in my arms.

That's why I believe so strongly in photographing you and your dog together.

We spend so much time taking photographs of our dogs that we sometimes forget to get in the photograph with them.

We think we'll do it another day.

When we've lost a bit of weight.
When our hair looks better.
When the dog is better behaved.
When we have more time.

But dogs don't wait.

They change. They grow older. And sometimes, heartbreakingly, they leave us.

So please don't wait for the "perfect" time.

Get in the photograph. Hold them close. Capture the ordinary moments as well as the beautiful ones.

Because one day, those photographs may become some of the most precious things you own.

And I know, from this photograph, just how true that is. ❤️

If you have lots of photographs of your dog, but very few of the two of you together, perhaps it's time to change that. 🐾

What my clients say... ❤️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Salli is a true dog lover, who is also a very talented equine and canine photographer.”

“Having a professional capture not just the dogs but me with them on our walk was a real treat and I'm so glad I can now put a proper photo in a frame, and it look good.”

This lovely review really sums up something that's important to me.

It's not just about photographing your dog.

It's about capturing the relationship you share with them, the fun, the affection, the connection and all those little moments that make them such an important part of your life.

And yes, even with a five-month-old puppy who has other ideas about how a photography session should go! 😂

Thank you so much for these beautiful words. ❤️

The things only dog owners understand... 🐾

Your dog can hear a cheese packet from three rooms away.

Doesn't matter if they're fast asleep.

Doesn't matter if they're upstairs.

Doesn't matter if you open it very, very quietly.

Somehow... they're there. 😂

This photo popped up in my memories from last year, and just look how tiny Sydney was! ❤️

And yes, all three of them were clearly waiting for their share.

What's the one sound your dog can hear from absolutely anywhere? 😂

Despite having an entire sofa to choose from, Elliot and Sydney have somehow decided that this particular bit is the best place to be. 😂

I'm sure other dog owners can relate...

Does your dog have a favourite spot on the sofa?

Leads and simple collars can often be removed during editing.

Harnesses are usually more visible and can be more difficult to remove convincingly. For the cleanest results, I recommend walking your dog in their usual harness and, if they're comfortable, switching to a simple collar when photographs are being taken.

Of course, your dog's comfort and safety always come first.

After your photography session, you'll be invited to a private viewing appointment where you'll see a carefully edited collection of your images.

This is one of my favourite parts of the experience, seeing your dog's personality come to life through the photographs and helping you choose the images you'd most like to enjoy and display.

There's something really special about seeing those moments again, properly finished and brought to life.

We often think a beautiful dog photograph has to be a face looking straight at the camera.

But some of my favourite images are the ones where we see a dog from a completely different perspective.

From behind.

A little silhouette.

The curve of a back, a tail, those wonderfully expressive ears.

Or simply a dog sitting beside the people they love.

You don't always need to see their face to know exactly who they are.

It's about noticing the little things. And sometimes, a different view tells a much bigger story. 🩶

This is one of the reasons I love allowing dogs to simply be themselves during a Boo & Bertie session. I'm not looking for one particular pose or asking them to constantly look at the camera.

I'm watching.

And waiting for those little moments that tell their story.

Which view of your dog do you love most, their face, their side profile, or that little view from behind?

Your dog deserves more than a place on your phone. 🩶

Sydney and Bertie, captured during their photography sessions and then brought to life as beautiful wall art for the home.

Because these photographs aren't meant to disappear into a camera roll.

They're meant to be seen.

To make you smile when you walk past them.

To remind you of who your dog is, and the little things you love most about them.

This is why I love creating finished artwork as part of the Boo & Bertie experience.

Your photographs can become something you enjoy every single day, rather than something you rarely get around to printing.

Which photograph of your dog would you love to see hanging on your wall?

Sydney at 16 months 🩶

Oh Sydney… what a handsome little man you have turned into!

We were out today in Black Park and Sydney was in his element, confidently zooming around after squirrels, looking every inch the grown-up boy he is becoming. Those long legs, those ears, that gorgeous little face… he really is quite something.

But for all his confidence out exploring, there is still a very soft side to this boy. Sydney absolutely loves his cuddles, especially when I settle down on the sofa. Apparently, if I’m relaxing, that must mean it’s cuddle time for him too!

I love seeing his personality develop. He’s becoming such a confident, funny and affectionate little character and I couldn’t be more proud of the handsome boy he’s turned into.

My gorgeous Sydney. 🩶
