Frequently Asked Questions

Can I be in the photographs too?

Absolutely.

Many people initially book a session because they want beautiful photographs of their dog. But very often, the images they end up treasuring most are the ones that include them too.

There's no pressure to pose or feel self-conscious. My approach is relaxed and natural, focusing on the connection you share rather than creating perfectly posed portraits.

Years from now, these photographs become far more than pictures. They become reminders of muddy walks, wagging tails, familiar routines and the bond that made your dog such an important part of your life.

If you've ever thought, "I'd rather stay behind the camera," I completely understand. But I promise you'll never regret stepping into the frame.

Have you got a favourite photograph of yourself with your dog?

Sometimes the biggest part of creating a finished portrait is what you don't see.

In Tag's original image, a lead and handler were visible, drawing attention away from his striking expression and beautiful mismatched eyes. Through careful editing, the lead has been removed and distractions softened, allowing the focus to rest exactly where it belongs, on Tag.

The transformation is subtle, but it changes the story completely. What begins as a lovely moment on a woodland walk becomes a timeless portrait that celebrates Tag's character and connection.

A glimpse behind the camera

Clients often see the finished photographs, but rarely what goes into creating them.

These behind-the-scenes images were taken during my recent My Dog and Me Sessions at Crocus, while I was photographing dogs and their people among the beautiful gardens.

One of the questions I'm often asked is how I create such natural, connected photographs.

The answer is usually quite simple: patience, observation and finding exactly the right perspective.

More often than not, that means working at a dog's eye level. By getting lower, I can create images that feel more intimate and connected, while making the most of the beautiful surroundings.

The goal is never simply to photograph how a dog looks. It's to capture the relationship they share with the people who love them.

The finished images may feel effortless, but every photograph begins with careful attention to light, composition, expression and connection.

These behind-the-scenes moments offer a small glimpse into the process.

When Blue's mum, Jen, got in touch, she already knew that time with her beautiful boy was something she wanted to treasure.

Blue had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, but despite everything, he was still enjoying life, still loving his walks and still very much himself. ❤️

That's why sessions like these mean so much to me. They're not just about creating beautiful photographs; they're about preserving the little expressions, the personality, the connection and the everyday moments that make our dogs who they are.

Blue was an absolute joy to photograph. Calm, gentle and incredibly loved.

Looking back through these images and reading Jen's lovely review feels especially poignant now:

"Salli was fantastic to work with. She made both me and my dog, Blue, feel completely at ease and turned the whole shoot into a really enjoyable experience. She has such a great way with dogs and it shows in the photos. Blue's personality shines through in every shot. I'm so pleased with the results and really grateful to have these moments captured so beautifully."

After the session, we even enjoyed tea and cake together while chatting about Blue and all the things that made him special.

Thank you, Jen, for trusting me with these memories. 💛

Bank Holiday moments are often the ones we remember most… ☀️🐾

Quiet time together, long walks, little routines and simply enjoying the company of the dogs who are part of our everyday lives.

This lovely session with Poppy and her owner captured exactly that, a beautiful bond and so many natural moments together. When I sent over her gallery preview, her first message was:

"They look amazing! Very impressed. I can't wait to see them on the bigger screen."

Then yesterday she came into my studio to view her images and choose her favourites, and seeing someone reconnect with those moments is always one of my favourite parts of what I do.

Because these photographs aren’t just about how your dog looks… they’re about preserving the relationship you share.

If you'd love images like these with your own dog, send me a message, I’d love to hear about them 🩶

Some photographs feel quietly special the moment you take them.

This was one of those moments.

Pat and Alfie sitting together at Crocus at Dorney, completely relaxed, simply enjoying being beside one another. No posing, no pressure, just the kind of connection that’s built over years of companionship, routine, loyalty and love.

These are the moments I love to capture most. The ones that feel natural, honest and full of meaning.

When people think about dog photography, they often think about portraits of their dog alone, but sometimes the most powerful images are the ones that include you too. Because your relationship is part of their story.

I’m so happy this was the image Pat chose for her framed photograph. 🩶

If you’ve ever thought about capturing the bond you share with your own dog, I’d love to hear from you.

There’s something really special about photographing people with the dogs they love.

Not perfectly posed moments…
just quiet connection, familiarity, and all the little things that say “this is my dog” without needing words.

I recently spent the afternoon at Crocus with the lovely Willow and her owner, and honestly, the bond between them was such a joy to capture.

These are the moments that matter most to me, creating photographs that feel natural, personal, and full of feeling.

Because one day, these everyday moments become the memories we treasure most 🩶

If you’ve ever thought about having photographs like this with your own dog, feel free to message me for details about upcoming sessions.

I started it because of them.

Living with Bertie, Elliot and Sydney has changed the way I see everything, the quiet routines, the small moments, the little looks you don’t notice until you realise how much they mean.

They’re never “just dogs”, are they?

They’re there every day.
Part of your life in a way that’s hard to put into words, but you feel it.

And that’s what I wanted to capture.

Not perfectly posed pictures…
but who they are.
Their personality, their quirks, and the connection you share.

Because those are the moments you’ll want to hold onto.

If you’ve ever looked at your dog and thought "I wish I could keep this exactly as it is”…
that’s exactly why I do what I do.

If it feels like something you’d love for your own dog, you’re always welcome to get in touch and tell me a little about them.
