A coronal hole is currently facing our planet. A G2 geomagnetic storm watch is currently in effect for Friday, 15 May. We will keep updating this post on and more information as and when. Weather forecast dont look to bad but that can change over the next day or so. Thanks everyone.

Afternoon everyone we have been a little quiet of late can only apologise.

We have nice clear skies but unfortunately the moon my hamper the view as it does wash it out with being so far south but it's definitely worth a look over the next couple of nights with all the activity from the sun over the past 48hrs.

Quick update. After waiting and wondering we do now seem to have the arrival of *something*. Its going to be a case of waiting and seeing how it all plays out from here on in.

Hello!

I am sure you will have seen by now, but if not, Monday the Sun produced a X1.5 solar flare with a rather large and quick CME. Sadly, the sun spot group that produced this wasn't directly facing earth but its looking likely that we will be getting a glancing blow, possibly arriving early this evening. G2 storms with the possibility of G3 storms have been forecast so theres once again chance for some aurora at mid latitudes... providing we dont get clouded out.... again! EPAM (which is used to measure solar wind parameters, amongst other things, is showing a slight rise currently so we could well be seeing the tease of an arrival. We will update further when we know more :D
