Nobody tells you the camera is the least interesting part of this job.

People ask about it constantly. What body, what lens, what lighting setup. Fair enough, it’s the easiest thing to ask about. It’s also the least useful question, because you could hand someone my exact kit bag and they’d still walk away with a different photo. Not a worse one, necessarily. Just not this one.

The actual job is what happens before any of that. It’s a product that’s melting under the lights faster than you can shoot it. It’s a brief that says “clean and simple” and means something completely different in the client’s head than it does on the page and figuring that out before the shoot, not during the awkward reshoot conversation after. It’s noticing the light’s gone slightly warm in the last ten minutes and knowing whether that’s a problem. In my niche, it is a problem.

None of that is on a spec sheet. None of it fits in an answer to “what camera do you use.” It’s judgment, built shoot by shoot, mistake by mistake and it’s the actual thing you’re paying for when you book a photographer.

The camera’s just what happens to be in my hand while I do it.

Full-service means all of that thinking is included - not just the click. Concept, problem-solving, the shoot, the edit, final files. The bit people see is maybe 10% of the actual work.
