Another unbelievable find this evening in Northumberland.

I’ve been wanting to find Long eared owls on my side of the pond for ages rather than travelling south for them, and tonight my luck finally came in spotting these beautiful long eared owlets 🦉

Words can’t fully capture the magic I witnessed last night.

Heading out with the camera wasn’t even on my agenda. I’d finished work later than usual and my wife said, “Just get yourself out,” and I wasn’t about to argue with that. I set off in search of barn owls, but after being drawn towards a different woodland I normally explore, I stumbled across something completely unexpected.

I spent the evening watching badger cubs play fight, tumble and chase each other through the undergrowth. At one point, they were so close to me that I couldn’t even focus the camera on them, I began to panic as I didn’t know what to do, so I just froze in total excitement. I watched the adults interacting with the cubs, playing and teaching them, and it felt like I’d stepped straight into a fairy tale.

I’ll share some of the videos I captured on my phone later today, hopefully they give a small glimpse of just how special the experience was
