Not a usual post from me - Can I Get Real With You All for a Moment?
At the moment, we currently have more than 10 client galleries that have expired without image selections being made.
We completely understand that life gets busy, schedules get hectic, and choosing your favourite images can be a difficult decision. However, many of these galleries have now been available for several months, and multiple reminders have been sent advising that selections need to be made before the galleries are permanently deleted.
This brings us to one of our biggest concerns as a business right now: the increasing misuse of preview images.
Unfortunately, we are seeing cases across the photography industry where watermarked images are being screenshotted and edited using AI tools to remove the watermark. We want to be very clear: this is copyright infringement and is illegal.
Any instances of stolen or altered images discovered will be investigated, and further action will be taken where appropriate.
As a result, we have recently had to invest in new systems and software to better protect our work and our clients' images. This is an expense that no small business wants to incur, but it has become necessary.
What many people don't realise is that taking a photographer's image without purchasing it is no different from walking into a shop and taking an item without paying for it. Every image delivered to a client represents hours of work — from the session itself to careful editing and retouching to create the final result.
