Li needed some fresh portraits for upcoming press coverage around her milestone as Centre Manager at Clavering House and it was such a lovely opportunity to create images that felt warm, professional and genuinely reflective of her role and personality.

I always aim to make the process easy and enjoyable, even for people who don’t naturally love being photographed- for the record Li and Helen hate having their photo taken.

From guiding poses and expressions, to choosing colours, backgrounds and styling that tie in beautifully with the brand and story we’re telling, everything is carefully considered to create natural, polished images with an end goal in mind.

Professional photography doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating, these images show it can be relaxed, collaborative and even fun!

Ever wondered what a Portfolio shoot looks like?

Here’s an overview of me shooting Karyn, a Hypnotherapist who came to me needing images for socials, website and conferences.

Three different backdrops- cream navy and off-white teamed by me to coordinate with her clothing and colouring gave her a variety of moods to use for all her purposes.

The results- A professional, colourful and genuine online introduction to who she is and what she does. A real success!

Chloe came to me having seen a picture on my website of a pink gel backdrop. It’s a popular choice amongst drama students or those at the beginning of their career and is great for capturing the eye of those decision makers sifting through drama school applications or casting agents filling roles.

If you spot an image on my website, a backdrop or a lighting style, I’ll recreate this for you in my studio. Just shout!

Here’s how to keep your eyes in the shot when you upload to socials!

Colour coordination can make a big difference in how professional headshots feel.

When Emma came in for her session, she wanted images that felt friendly and approachable while still maintaining a professional and cohesive look for her private practice, NHS consultancy work and speaking engagements.

She brought two wardrobe options:• a cream blouse for a softer, more relaxed feel• a blue V-neck jumper that looked smart and reflected what she would typically wear in clinic

One thing I always consider during a session is how clothing colours interact with the backdrop. By choosing a paper backdrop that either blends with or complements the outfit, the final image feels more polished and balanced.

It’s a small detail, but thoughtful colour pairing helps create headshots that feel natural, professional and consistent across websites, profiles and publications. So bring your favourite clothing items and I will do the rest!

See here how navy blue works surprisingly well on navy blue and how the cream fabric contrasts and pops!

Glen Hall

Bestselling author of ‘The Last Druid’ trilogy, came to my studio for headshots for his much anticipated new novel’s sleeve. Glen wanted dark and moody to fit with the stories he writes, he needed atmosphere and intrigue and we felt this lighting and backdrop worked perfectly!

If you have a brief that you need me to hit, jot down a few bullets of the words your images need to convey and I’ll put them into pictures!

Harry at Springbird

If you have a new starter and they need a headshot, this is how simple and quick it is- 15 minutes max at my studio and images are with you to fill that gap in your ‘meet the team’ page quicker than you can shout 123!

I help your staff relax, look natural and most importantly help organise those hands as people exclaim ‘what on earth do I do with my hands?’. I choose the best shots from the shoot, crop, tidy and send via an online gallery for your staff to choose their favourite for socials and online. Job done!

Meet Emma! ✨

Emma came to me needing professional headshots for her private practice, as well as for her NHS consultancy work and conference speaking.

I have so many medical professionals coming to me for a proper portrait — something a little better than a desk we**am screenshot!

Emma is a Clinical Psychologist based in Newcastle upon Tyne, hugely experienced in the NHS. She wanted images that felt professional, approachable and reflective of the work she does supporting people every day.

Professional headshots aren’t just for corporate profiles — they’re essential for clinicians, consultants and anyone representing their expertise publicly.

If you’re a healthcare professional still using that cropped Zoom photo… it might be time for an upgrade 😉
