I think autumn might just be my favourite season to photograph 🍂📸

I'm so ready for the warm colours, golden leaves, cosy knits and all those gorgeous autumn tones to start appearing again.

There's just something about this time of year that makes photographs feel extra special — whether it's a wedding surrounded by changing leaves or little ones exploring and playing outside. 🤎

I'm definitely ready for autumn… anyone else? 🍁

And if you've been thinking about some autumn family photos this year, feel free to pop me a message. 📸🍂

A little quiet on here… but definitely not behind the scenes

It's been a busy couple of weeks at Purple Rose Photography — photographing weddings, editing thousands of images, sending galleries, designing albums and catching up with some lovely couples planning their weddings for next year.

One of our favourite parts of this job is that it doesn't end when we pack the cameras away at the end of a wedding day. There's so much that happens afterwards to turn everything we've captured into the finished gallery our couples get to relive over and over again.

We've just sent another beautiful wedding gallery off to its new home this week, and now it's onto the next one.

And with some lovely new enquiries landing recently, we're getting very excited about what's ahead for 2027 too.

If you're planning your wedding and still looking for your photographers, we'd love to hear what you're planning.

25 years together… and now officially Mr & Mrs!

On Thursday we had the absolute pleasure of photographing Amy & Rik’s wedding at the beautiful Chicheley Hall.

After 25 years together and two gorgeous children, it was finally time to make it official — they just happened to choose what felt like the hottest day of the year to do it! ☀️🥵

One thing Amy had worried about beforehand was whether she’d actually *look* happy and relaxed in the photographs as she was a little nervous of having her photo taken.

So one of my favourite moments of the day came when we showed Amy & Rik their same-day preview.

Amy couldn’t believe how happy she looked. 🥹

And that genuinely means so much to us.

Our job isn’t just to take pretty photographs. It’s to help you feel comfortable, give you a bit of guidance when you need it, have a laugh with you, and make the photography feel like an enjoyable part of your wedding day rather than something you need to worry about.

Amy & Rik, you really did look that happy. ❤️

Such a lovely, relaxed day, an incredibly friendly bunch of family and friends, and a couple who after 25 years together were very clearly meant to be standing there saying “I do”.

Congratulations you two!

Some couples just make you smile... and Sam & Andrew were one of those couples.

From a beautiful church ceremony to arriving at Grendon Lakes by speedboat, every part of their wedding reflected exactly who they are. Outdoors, adventurous and completely unapologetically themselves.

Their celebration was filled with thoughtful, meaningful details. The beautiful sunflowers and thistles weren't just chosen because they looked stunning together—they were a heartfelt way of remembering loved ones who couldn't be there to celebrate with them.

As the day turned into evening, everyone gathered under the lakeside gazebo to celebrate, while many of their family and friends camped around the venue. Sam & Andrew ended their wedding day tucked away in their own yurt, making the most of everything this incredible setting has to offer.

One thing I'll always remember, though, is something I found myself saying to them during their portraits: when you're together, you're so clearly each other's safe place. The way they look at one another, laugh together and simply feel at home in each other's company is something truly special.

Thank you, Sam & Andrew, for trusting us to capture such an unforgettable day. We wish you a lifetime of adventures, campfires, laughter and happiness together. ❤️

A little extra excitement for today... ❤️

Not only do I get to capture another beautiful wedding, but today also happens to be mine and Grant's 11th wedding anniversary.

This year, Grant is holding the fort at home while I have the privilege of spending the day documenting another couple's love story.

I always feel incredibly lucky that our job allows us to witness so many moments filled with love, laughter and happy tears. It never gets old.

Happy Anniversary, Grant. ❤️

Now... let's go make some memories! 📸✨

📦 We're moving!

This week we're swapping memory cards for moving boxes as we move into our new home. 🏡

If you've sent us a message, wedding enquiry or gallery question, please bear with us if we're a little slower to reply than usual over the next few days.

We are still checking emails and messages daily and will get back to everyone as soon as we can.

Thank you so much for your patience and support. We can't wait to start this exciting new chapter for our family ❤️

Rain was forecast for almost the entire day... and honestly, these two couldn't have cared less. ❤️

Saturday's wedding at Dodmoor House was filled with laughter, happy tears and the people who matter most.

The sage green and cream styling looked beautiful against the moody skies, and rather than hiding from the rain, they embraced it. We dashed outside whenever we found a dry spell, grabbed umbrellas when we needed them, and created some truly beautiful photographs along the way.

One of our favourite moments was the confetti down the staircase — such a fun, joyful celebration surrounded by their family and friends.

What stood out most though wasn't the weather, the details or even the venue.

It was the way they looked at each other.

The constant smiles. The laughter. The little glances when they thought nobody was watching.

A couple completely in love, celebrating exactly what a wedding should be about: family, connection and making memories together.

Congratulations to you both. Thank you for trusting us to capture such a special day. 🤍

Parents trying not to cry gets me every time

One of my favourite things about weddings is watching parents.
The pride.
The emotion.
The quiet little looks when they realise their child is all grown up

I had to share these, totally worth laying in stinging nettles for.

When I mention a big sky shot this is what i mean, just the two of you, on your wedding day taking some time out together, whilst capturing a beautiful memory of the two of you against the stunning backdrop of a sky.

This wedding at Dodford Manor felt like such a beautiful reminder of what weddings are really about

Family. Connection. Quiet moments together in the middle of it all.

Neither of them loved being in front of the camera, but that’s something we hear so often. So instead of endless posing, we simply took them away for a few peaceful moments together… time to breathe, soak it all in and just be with each other.

And honestly? Those are often the moments that create the most beautiful photographs.

Golden light, a sunset sky and two people completely wrapped up in each other

A truly lovely day from start to finish.
