My friend Britt and I share a passion for photography, so when we planned a weekend away, I naturally kept an eye out for places that might make the perfect backdrop for our photos. This tiny house, although truly tiny, did a fabulous job. With the wind howling, we didn’t dare venture out, so instead we stayed cozy indoors, cups of tea in hand, chatting about life and watching rabbits graze outside our windows. It turned out to be the perfect little hideaway.

I will forever be in awe of the fact that we carry life—a whole universe—within our wombs. Moved by strength and boundless love, we are mothers, creators of the human race.

We carry the fiercest power, yet choose tenderness. We stand tall with pride, but never ego. We nurture without needing recognition, protect without seeking praise, and embrace peace even when the world asks us to be hardened.

Perhaps that is why the world feels most whole in a mother’s hands: because we know that true power is not about ruling over others, but about creating, protecting, and leaving something better than we found it.

If mothers led with the same love with which they mother, perhaps the world would be a gentler, fairer place.
