Colour isn't just something I see. It's something I feel.

And matching it to a person? That's where the magic lives.

I've spent hours moving gels. Shifting flags. Adjusting lights by millimetres because the magenta was fighting the skin tone instead of dancing with it.

Some photographers would call it tedious.

I call it brilliant.

Here's what happens when you get it right:

The colour stops being a backdrop. It becomes an extension of the person. A visual translation of energy, mood, something unspoken.

That deep blue that matches their calm.
That pop of orange that echoes their laugh.
That unexpected pink that makes you look twice because it shouldn't work — but it absolutely does.

The technical side is real.

It's time-consuming. It requires patience. It demands a level of meticulousness most people never see.

But the personal connection? That's what makes the technical work worth it.

Because colour without a soul is just decoration. Colour with intention is a conversation.

So yes, I spend time getting it right.

Not because I'm a perfectionist. Because the person in front of my lens deserves more than "close enough."

I just saw pop up a few times on LinkedIn.
And it made me stop scrolling.
Is it a badge of honour? A quiet protest? A simple label for "I did this with my hands, not a prompt"?
I honestly don't know yet.
Some use it like a signature. "This came from me. The messy, glorious, imperfect me."
Others wield it like a shield. "Not AI. Not even close."
And maybe it's both.
Here's what I'm wondering:
Does mean "better"? Or just "different"?
Because I've seen AI images that made me feel something. And I've seen human-made images that felt utterly soulless.
The label isn't the magic. The intention is.
For me?
I'll keep making things with real light, real props, and real late nights in DaVinci Resolve. I'll also keep using AI to brainstorm colour palettes at 11pm when my brain is fried.
I'm not versus anything.
I'm just... made.
