Something that's come up on a few calls recently is 'getting ready' photos, and whether couples have to have them.

My all-day package can start from 2 hours before the ceremony, and most people do take me up on the offer of preparation photos. But some future couples have said that they might not want this - some because they'd rather I stayed later into the party, others because they'd like their prep time to be as simple and no-fuss as possible. All valid reasons for starting their coverage just before the ceremony.

For Poppy and Harry's wedding at the , I arrived one hour before the ceremony. This was enough time to catch both Poppy and Harry adding the finishing touches to their outfits at the venue (plus to take a few group photos), but without the earlier intrusion into their prep.

It's always up to you when your photography coverage starts - do what will make your day as fun and easy as possible.

I’m still recovering from the incredible CAMP VC and deep into editing the 15,000 photos I took over the weekend, so please just enjoy these adorable photos from Sarah and Amber’s gorgeous DIY wedding at Todmorden Town Hall.

Normal programming will resume… at some point.

You don’t need to be told that summer is busy for wedding photographers…

Last weekend was the only one I had free in July. Time to relax, catch up on editing etc etc… and then I got a last minute message from Anita at Handmade Bridesmaid Dresses 🇬🇧 asking if I could step in last minute for a styled shoot.

Stunning bridesmaid dresses and the DREAM that is People's History Museum (PHM)🧡? Oh, go on then.

I picked up this fish eye lens a week ago to try something new, and I knew straight away I wanted to channel 90s/2000s girl band for these bridesmaid photos.

The girls absolutely delivered on that prompt, and I’m OBSESSED. There are so many more bangers, but here’s a tiny peek before I head to my spiritual home CAMP VC ❤️‍🔥

Permission to shoot all weddings on a fisheye lens?

I don’t really do black and white photos most of the time. I love colour, and I shoot a lot of colourful weddings where black and white defeats the object.

But there’s the occasional time where it’s the right choice.

This quiet moment before the ceremony at the Shireburn Arms, where Kami was waiting for his bride Neisha to arrive. He was nervous, re-reading his vows with shaking hands.

These work in black and white because it takes away all the distractions. It’s calmer. There’s also enough contrast between the bright window and his dark suit and tattoos to keep it interesting.

Not every photo works in black and white, but some need it.

After whingeing about how hot the past 6 weddings have been, Saturday’s ceremony at the newly refurbished Todmorden Town Hall was a drizzly affair!

My wonderful couple Sarah and Amber wanted to do portraits before their celebrant-led ceremony, giving them more time to enjoy their cocktail hour and to prioritise candid photos of their guests.

We had 30 minutes to grab their portraits, but we decided to speed this up to get out of the rain and protect their hair. Fortunately I know all the best spots in Tod, so we whipped through the town to get what we needed.

This is the only time I’ve ever been happy to see Baked closed, so we could make the most of their beautiful doors for some simple and cool portraits!

More photos to come later, that really showcase the beautiful town hall and Sarah’s EPIC custom cape!!

One incredibly hot week, three weddings.

All so different from each other and beautiful in their own right!

Courtney and Dom sweltered at local favourite Bellavista - I don’t think I’ve ever been that hot!

Jess and Ben had the genius idea to bring an ice cream van to Fairfield Social Club - those photos are 🤌, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Jess and Ben had a relaxed summer family wedding at Ashfield House - the gardens were perfect for a chilled day in the sun, and everyone loved the mini golf!

(Also this multiple captions thing has taken me 4 attempts, I feel like a Luddite…)

Who needs Kew Gardens?!

Amy and Will opted for a simple and intimate ceremony at Stafford Registry Office and wanted to take portraits in the town before their reception.

Amy suggested heading to nearby Victoria Park, which has to be the most beautiful public park I've ever seen!

Even though we were deep into the first heatwave, we just had to use the glass house for portraits to complement their wedding outfits. I told them we could be in and out in 3 minutes, and it would be so worth the sweat.

We then caught the breeze on the beautiful bridge over the River Sow, before they headed to their reception venue.

These are just a small selection of photos we captured in around 20 minutes - proof that you don't need to give hours of your day to get images you'll cherish for life. I worked especially quickly this day because of the heat, but not much faster than usual!

The confetti walk is ALWAYS one of my favourite parts of the day, especially when it's the colourful paper kind.

It always gets everywhere. Yes, it will go down your dress and get stuck in your hair. Even I found some when I got changed for bed on Saturday 👀

I always tell my couples and guests to really enjoy the moment: cheering, laughing and shouting are all encouraged.

But maybe I'll give them an extra bit of advice next time... Try not to swallow it!

Jen was obviously absolutely fine, and I cracked up when I found this shot whilst preparing hers and Nathan's sneak peeks yesterday.

But just a little food for thought before your confetti walk 😉

Can't wait to share more of their glorious summer wedding ❤🌸

We all know who the main man was at Poppy and Harry’s The Black Friar Salford wedding… sorry Harry, but Bert stole the show!

He was the centre of attention, and he knew it by making his presence VERY known during the ceremony.

But you know what, he deserved it.

Petition for more dogs at weddings please.
