As a photographer and director of filming, most of the planning and coordination happens long before the wedding day. That preparation allows me to stay fully present and focus on creating while our team executes the plan seamlessly.

Moments like this are a perfect example. During a beautiful wedding in Portofino at Villa Durazzo, I’m still inside the church where it’s dark, while outside is bright sunlight. I have only a split second to adjust my camera settings before running out for the grand exit.

I’d rather miss the first second or two of the exit than rush it and have the rest of the moment exposed correctly. Those tiny decisions often make the biggest difference.

Having an incredible second or third photographer, together with our video team, gives me the freedom to create, knowing the story is being captured from every angle. Sometimes my crew even knows better when to gently pull me into a safer position while I’m still in that creative “heaven,” completely immersed in the moment.
