ad Canals, historic architecture, colourful church interiors, riverside restaurants, fascinating museums, and even a palace just outside the city. Bydgoszcz packs a surprising amount into a compact and walkable city centre.

Located in northern Poland, around two hours from London, it’s particularly lovely between late spring and early autumn, when the waterways, outdoor cafés, and riverside terraces come to life.

For those planning a trip, here’s the itinerary I followed:

📍 Old Town & Waterfront - The historic heart of the city and the perfect place to start exploring.

📍 .lemara - A floating museum telling the story of families who once lived and worked on Bydgoszcz’s waterways.

📍 Historic Granaries & Man Crossing the River - Two of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.

📍 Bydgoszcz Cathedral - The oldest building in the city, with a beautifully restored and colourful interior.

📍 Karczma Młyńska - Traditional Polish food in a lovely riverside setting on Mill Island.

📍 Słonecznik Boat Cruise - One of the best ways to experience the city and its waterways.

📍 - A former grain mill transformed into one of Bydgoszcz’s most impressive cultural spaces.

📍 Kuchnia by Marcin Szukaj - Modern Polish cuisine and one of the city’s standout restaurants.

📍 - A beautiful historic estate just 20 minutes from the city centre.

📍 Wieża Ciśnień - The best panoramic views over Bydgoszcz.

📍 Music District & Archeress Monument - Elegant streets, grand villas, and one of the city’s best-known symbols.
