While vultures often get a bad rap in pop culture, these remarkable birds are essential for healthy ecosystems. Here are a few fascinating facts about this unique species:

1.The "Hooded" Look: They get their name from a soft layer of downy feathers covering the back of their head and neck, contrasting with their bare pinkish face and striking blue eye-rings.

2.Small & Scrappy: As one of the smallest Old World vulture species, they weigh just 3.3 to 5.7 lbs (1.5 to 2.6 kg). Their smaller size lets them sn**ch quick scraps while larger vultures battle over a carcass.

3.Devoted Partners: Scientists believe Hooded Vultures are monogamous, mating for life and raising a single chick together each breeding season.

4.Ecological Waste Managers: By consuming decaying organic matter, they prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and diseases like anthrax and rabies, saving human and animal lives alike.
