A magical afternoon spent in the glorious wilds of north Herefordshire with the wonderfully talented Old Hill Willow Brigit Graham , learning the ancient craft of basket weaving 🧡🤎 sitting beneath the willow bower, drinking tea and catching up was a real balm for the soul. I left feeling so tranquil, free of my daily stresses and strains, that I cannot wait to return!
I can’t recommend a visit highly enough, what a treat!

Another step (see what I did there?😂) closer to a socket that fits! 🎉
Today was the last fitting appointment before they finish Brian 3.0- I won’t miss 4 layers of thick socks and an inflatable liner, that’s for sure, especially in this heat 🥵
I know I keep saying it, but my new team have achieved more in 2 months than the old one did in 2 years 🤩
It’s worth the 2 hour drive, that’s for sure 🚘

In the words of Mr “I did a thing!!!!”
Yes, check me out, all taking my first steps in 4 years and 2 weeks and everything 🎉💪😈 my mind is still blown at how fast I’m now coming along since finding a new team to help me reach my goals!!
This is just a check socket on a simple straight leg- can’t wait to wear the new socket on my microprocessor knee- I know I’ll be forging ahead from that point!

Brian 3.0 is under construction and I’m so pleased with how it’s going!
It’s much smaller, lighter and my new physiotherapist is confident that I’ll be walking without crutches very soon 🤩

Well, another interesting year has passed, as today marks the 4th anniversary of the catastrophic collision that changed everything.
But not necessarily for the worst.
I always look back without regret, grateful for being given a second chance!

This year’s highlights include:
a 4.5 stone weight loss, yet more advocating for myself as I continue on my quest for a leg that bloody fits, a Viking hut getaway, family weddings, some unpleasant and unsuccessful surgery, Christmas in France, Ferocious Dog at Gloucester guildhall, Boo starting her OT degree at Worcester, rediscovering my creative mojo, visits from old, old friends, meeting my lifesavers, finding a new rehab team that actually works, a Stonehenge road trip…

All interspersed with the (still) weekly medical appointments, swears, sh*ts and giggles 🤭

And every single day I’m reminded that life after major trauma needn’t be the end, but the chance of a new beginning 🥳

HUGE thanks to all of you who are STILL cheering me on and supporting me, even after alllllllll this time… I’ll never stop being grateful ☺️ ###

Ooh! Not long now! Brian 3.0 is nearly here 🥳 I haven’t had a socket that fits since July 2024 😳 and without it I’m so stuck! I haven’t been able to move forward consistently with my rehabilitation, learning to walk again takes a very long time! But now I’ve moved to a new clinic, I’ve found my people, people who want to get me back on 2 feet- that’s all I’ve wanted, and once this new socket is complete I’ll be working hard every day to learn how to put one foot in front of the other. Can’t wait!
