A dash cam is only as reliable as the complete system supporting it.
Think of it like the fire triangle. For a fire to exist, you need heat, fuel and oxygen. Remove any one of those elements and it stops.
A dependable dash cam system also relies on three essential elements:
✅ A quality dash cam
✅ The correct, high-quality microSD card
✅ Professional installation
Take one away and the system can fail—potentially when you need the footage most.
I recently received a call from a customer who couldn’t access footage from their dash cam. The police had previously removed the original microSD card following an incident, so the customer visited a phone shop and was advised to purchase a replacement.
Unfortunately, the card supplied wasn’t suitable for the continuous recording demands of a dash cam. When the customer later needed their footage, they couldn’t read or view it.
They contacted us, and we rectified the problem the following day by supplying the correct specification of microSD card.
With memory-card prices rising, choosing a cheaper option can seem appealing—but cheap, counterfeit or unsuitable cards can result in corrupted files, recording failures or missing footage.
A microSD card isn’t just an accessory. It is a critical part of the recording system.
Don’t wait until you need the footage to discover that your memory card hasn’t been doing its job. Speak to a dash cam specialist and make sure every part of the system is fit for purpose.
