☹️ shame, but the right decision in terms of player welfare.
The Club can confirm that our Warrington Wolves Women’s team will withdraw from the Betfred Women’s Super League for the remainder of the 2025 season, with player welfare at the heart of this difficult decision.
A growing injury list, coupled with multiple player departures, has left the squad significantly depleted. As a result, we have been fielding a very young and inexperienced team, placing them at increased risk of serious injury when facing the league’s strongest sides.
Performances and results have understandably suffered, and the gulf between the “big four” teams and the rest of the competition has become more evident than ever.
The club will now look to arrange a competitive programme of alternative fixtures for the remainder of the year and will apply to join the Women’s Championship in 2026.
We remain immensely proud of the Girls who have represented our Club this season for their efforts and commitment.
This situation also highlights the broader financial challenges faced by clubs working to grow the women’s game. Warrington Wolves remains committed to supporting women’s rugby league, developing young talent, engaging with our community, and building a sustainable future for the sport
Furthermore, the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation has already allocated additional resources to support the development of young player pathways, ensuring that women and girls continue to have opportunities to play and grow within the sport.
