Work has begun to demolish three tower blocks in the Boothferry estate area of Hull. Around 150 homes are set to be built in the site of the flats that have been dominating the skyline near Anlaby Park Road South since the 1960s.

Plans to demolish the Torpoint, Millpoint and Woolwich blocks were first revealed around five years ago after they were plagued by problems including drug-taking and anti-social behaviour. Hull City Council says the new homes being built in their place will help meet demand in the area for good-quality affordable housing.
