Is Revealing Scotland spamming your messenger? 😱📢👇
I received this message today, while they have now blocked Revealing Scotland, it raised an important point that I wanted to clear up with all of you.
First and foremost: I would never, ever spam anyone or force Revealing Scotland into your private inbox🤗🏴
If you’ve been getting random invitations, pop-ups, or pings about our Messenger channel, here is what is actually going on:
🤖 It’s an automated Facebook feature: When Facebook rolled out "Broadcast Channels" (a read-only announcement feed), they programmed their algorithm to automatically suggest and push invites to people who have interacted with our videos, Reels, or page. I do not manually invite, add, or push anyone into the group. Facebook does all of that on its own backend.
🕒 Post Frequency: The only time a message is ever sent into that channel is when a brand-new video goes live—which is twice a week at absolute most. Nobody else can post in it, and we certainly aren't sitting here pinging your phone all day, although it could be Star if it is asking for food 🐕🦺😜😂
🛎️ The notifications are controlled by Meta: Facebook decides how loudly and how often to buzz your phone with channel notifications unless you adjust your individual app settings.
The last thing I want is for our videos or page to become a nuisance on your phone. If you're in the channel and enjoy getting the video links directly, that's grand! But if you were added automatically by Facebook or find the pings annoying, please feel free to leave or mute it anytime—zero hard feelings whatsoever 🤗❤️
🛠️ How to leave or mute the channel on your phone:
Open the Messenger app and tap on the Revealing Scotland channel chat.
Tap the channel name at the very top of the screen.
Tap Notifications / Mute to silence the pings, or tap the three dots (...) and select "Leave channel".
