Last year I was delighted to be approached by Elgin based Gleaner Ltd , one of Scotlands leading fuel suppliers … to provide all the drone filming and production work for their spring promotion.

The main requirement was to film their arctic tanker as it made its way through Glencoe on an autumn day en route to one of the Gleaner service stations at Onich.
After brainstorming a few ideas we storyboarded a route that would take myself, Iain Henderson and his fuel tanker eastwards from the Gleaner Depot at Connel along the A85, before heading north on the A82 to Glencoe then Onich. We were already well into Autumn 2021, so after plenty of weather watching we hatched a plan the following week to film on a forecast bright Wednesday morning of November 3rd 2021 … and guess what ? … the Scottish weather didn’t disappoint !
I stayed locally the night before at the Lochnell Arms Hotel to ensure a fresh start to the day and from that point onwards our plans fell beautifully into place as we captured some breathtaking cinematic shots of the tanker along its journey. The Highlands had never looked better on my drone than they did that day and the spectacular autumnal colours as the Gleaner tanker cut through the magical Glencoe gorge.
A big mention to Iain the driver, what an absolute star from start to finish, the amount of times I asked him to turn round and “do it again” or to drive at certain speeds, he simply did everything I asked to get the job done … and if that wasn’t enough after 12 hours of filming, he then gave me an additional couple of hours of his time to record the voiceover back at the Connel depot that evening.
I can’t say enough good things about Iain and my overall experience of working with Sharon and Stephen at Gleaner … a great idea, well planned and fantastic team effort = the end result we all wanted 🏴
