Leominster Town Football Club hit back in the second-half with a stoppage-time equaliser to draw 2-2 with Hinton FC in yesterday's Herefordshire FA Veterans League clash at the SSAFA County Ground.

Both teams had won their opening fixtures last weekend and their meeting evoked memories of the West Midlands (Regional) League derbies between the two club during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Hinton opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Kenny Styles was picked out by an Adam Pinnell cross and the former Wellington striker cut inside before squeezing his shot inside the near post. The Broomy Hill outfit doubled their advantage when Marc Metcalf ran on to a through ball before coming back inside an opponent and find the back of the net. Leominster Town reduced the deficit eight minutes after the interval when Ben Price drove towards the byline before picking out former Pegasus team mate Cory Hyde to finish at the near post. Hinton had to cope with five injuries during the course of the match and appeared on course for victory. However, their north Herefordshire struck in stoppage-time to level the scores and claim a hard-earned point at the final whistle.

Orleton made a winning start to the Herefordshire FA Veterans League season following a 5-2 victory over Fownhope last night at the SAFA County Ground.

The north Herefordshire club raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 11 minutes before Fownhope pounced on a error in their opponents backline to halve the deficit in the 34th minute. Orleton quickly regained their two-goal buffer within five minutes of the restart with a lob from nearly 40 yards out that surprised the Fownhope custodian. The lead was increased further five minutes after the break before the Owls' goalkeeper misjudged a low 25 yard shot in the 51st minute to provide Fownhope with some hope. However, Orleton secured victory with seven minutes remaining on the clock with the final goal of the night and join Hinton and Leominster Town on three points following the completion of the opening round of fixtures.
