Radnor Valley FC netted a stoppage-time penalty to defeat reigning Manderwood Pembrokeshire League champions Hakin United Football Club 3-2 in a dramatic FAW Amateur Trophy first round tie this afternoon at The Bypass.

A goalless opening 45 minutes provided few clues as to how the final quarter of the match would unfold on a bright afternoon in the Radnorshire borderlands. The Goats finally broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when talisman Joey Price was picked out in the penalty area by Jack Gittoes before twisting and turning to fire a fierce shot into the far corner of the net. The Vikings levelled the cored seven minutes later when Scott Ferney was on hand to turn home Cameron Brunton's low cross along the face of Will Fowden's goal. The hosts regained the lead when former Kington Town forward Gittoes rose highest at the far post to powerfully head home from an 87th minute Joey Price corner. Just when it appeared that the Lock Stock Ardal North East club were poised to win the tie it was the turn of substitute Liam Parks to equalise for Hakin United five minutes later with a spectacular overhead kick following a corner. The match appeared to be heading towards a penalty shoot-out until referee Paul Curtis awarded a 98th minute penalty and Price stepped forward to convert the spot-kick for his second goal of the afternoon in a remarkable finale to the cup tie.

Hay St Mary's FC maintained their winning start to the Watson Financial Mid Wales League South campaign following a narrow 1-0 victory over Presteigne St.Andrews Football & Social Club last night under the Forest Road floodlights.

The border rivals came into the match after both teams had won their opening two league fixtures without conceding a goal. A tense and highly-competitive contest was settled when Charlie Ward netted his fourth goal of the season, four minutes before the interval, after breaking into the penalty area and firing a low shot past former Hereford FC goalkeeper Shay Sterry. The Saints will be attempting to maintain their 100% record when they welcome league leaders Llandrindod Wells to Forest Road on Tuesday night. Presteigne St Andrews will hope to bounce back from their first reverse of the campaign when they travel to Llanidloes Town Reserves next Friday evening.

Ludlow Town Football Club came from behind this afternoon to record a 2-1 victory over Bromyard Town FC in their Hellenic League - Proudly sponsored by uhlsport First Division derby at the Delahay Meadow.

Following a relatively tight opening half-hour, the hosts broke the deadlock eight minutes before the interval, after Danny Barnes saw his shot from the edge of the penalty area blocked before Jack Griffiths-Perry found the back of the net when he drilled home the rebound from 20 yards. The Shropshire club were back on level terms 13 minutes after the interval when a penalty was successfully converted by Ryan Clarke. There was all to play for during the final half-hour of the match as the local rivals probed to take the lead in an end-to-end bank holiday encounter. It was Ludlow Town who would claim all three points when Clarke converted his second penalty of the afternoon with six minutes of normal time remaining. The victory saw the visitors move into fourth position in the table and Bromyard Town remain in 14th place in the First Division.

Crickhowell F.C. recorded their first victory of the season in the Autocentre Gwent Premier League Second Division yesterday afternoon following a 6-2 win over Usk Town AFC at The Elvicta.

The visitors enjoyed the better of the goal scoring chances in the opening stages but it was Crick who broke the deadlock when Richard Hansford headed home at the near post from a 19th minute Alun Jones corner. The hosts doubled their advantage six minutes later when it was the turn of Lloyd Morgan to find the back of the net from another corner delivered by Luc Samuel. The Breconshire outfit extended their lead when Michael Ling ran on to a well-timed deep through ball from Jones before rounding the advancing James Noon in the Usk Town goal and turning the ball into an empty net. The Jackdaws added a fourth goal to their tally eight minutes prior to the interval when Eddie Watkins' 25 yard free-kick beat the defensive wall and nestled inside Noon near post. Crickhowell went nap 12 minutes after the interval when Samuel was played in on goal by Omar Bojang and finished past Noon from close-range. Usk Town pulled a goal back in the 77th minute when Oliver Rudall converted a penalty awarded by referee Lee Smith after the goal scorer had been brought down whilst attempting to get a shot in on goal. However, the hosts regained their five-goal advantage within two minutes of the restart after Jones successfully converted a penalty given at the opposite end of the pitch. The scoring was completed in the 90th minute when Gene Gurie struck a dipping volley over the head of Crickhowell custodian Alex Horseley that brought back memories of Marco van Basten's strike against the USSR in the Euro 88 final at Munich's Olympic Stadium.

Chepstow Town Football Club AFC eased into the second round of the Ardal Southern League Cup following a 4-0 victory over hosts Abergavenny Town FC last night under the Pen-y-Pound Stadium floodlights.

Following a goalless opening 45 minutes, the visitors opened the scoring seven minutes after the break after Josh Parsons' drive was parried Ryan Decker-Thomas and substitute Mason Keepin-Davies was on hand to turn home the rebound against his former club. Chepstow Town doubled their advantage in the 55th minute when Parsons sliced his way through the Pennies' defence before coolly slotting the ball past Decker-Thomas in the Abergavenny Town goal. The Jockeys added a third goal eight minutes later when Keepin-Davies broke into the host's penalty from a Chris Ham before sliding the ball past Decker-Thomas. The scoring was completed with 10 minutes remaining when Parsons was in hand to convert a low cross delivered by substitute Sam Broadribb along the face of the goal from the left-hand side of the penalty area.
