We love this shot from Ting & David's wedding, on Valentine's day this year. The couple aren't models, they are just like many of our couples, they didn't really enjoy being in front of the camera. But some simple instructions, to walk down the centre of the road and smile created an image that would fit in any wedding magazine spread beautifully. Having spent over 16 years shooting fashion magazines, that skill has never left me! While 95% of our wedding images are totally unposed - we love capturing some stunning portraits when we can too. We only spent around 15 mins capturing a range of poses on a short walk around St Paul's.

Fantastic to be picked as a Judge again for Fearless Awards this round. Fearless Photographers Awards are considered the highest accolade for us wedding photographers. Gaining one is just SO hard. I feel very blessed to now own 16 of them. Carol is on 15 but catching up fast. Being a judge is such a privilege. It's so fascinating to see all of the entries and to be able to use one's own experience when considering which photos you feel are deserving. It gives you a real insight into how other photographers (and clients) must see your own work. When you know nothing about the wedding - all you are judging is "does this image have a wow factor?" which is a combination of composition, light and moment. The elusive three that really make an image stand out. (p.s. no, you don't get to put your own images through - that is all carefully managed so the judges have no input on their own work - or their partners).

Whoop, Whoop! Wasn't expecting that this morning. Round 96 Fearless Awards were just announced. Two new award for Carol, one for me - Yay!

Carol, boy with beer and kiss in doorway. Mine is the bubble kiss.

So pleased that the beer shot has finally won a Fearless. It's so good imho. The BW is interesting. Captured at Gilbert White's barn, we decided to reprocess the image into BW to see if it was stronger - and it is. Love it, clever Carol, processing by me :) . The bubble kiss shot I've always loved, but it just didn't feel strong enough. So again, we tweaked the image a little more to bring out the people in the background and it now works really well. No photoshopping here, that bubble literally ended up over his lips. Just a freak moment in time, captured.

I still pinch myself when I see my new profile pic. Top 25 wedding photographers in the world 🏆 on Fearless Photographers last year. It only took me 32 years as a professional photographer to reach that point. My first professional shoot was in 1993, I was thrown in the deep end shooting a brochure for Burberry's on a fishing boat of the coast of Barcelona. I had to take over, as the photographer I was assisting got really badly sea sick and the art director asked me to continue the shoot. Shooting solo on a Hasselblad, loading your own film, taking your own light meter readings, while balancing on a tossing and turning fishing boat sure wasn't fun. But when they used my images as the cover photo and 4 pages inside, it made me realise it was time to stop assisting and start shooting for myself. Never knew I'd end up 17 years later shooting weddings of all things. I've definitely come a long way!

Capturing a grandmothers hug is always an absolute privilege. You cannot fake true emotions in wedding photos and being able to capture them when they happen is an art in itself. Zero posing, just natural images.

For couples that LOVE good photography from their wedding day. Wi******er Registry Office - one of the most perfect locations for a shot on the stairs. This is a posed portrait, not a documentary shot. Taken after the ceremony, a couple of tries and we have the perfect frame. The light from that window is always stunning. Congratulations Beth & Andrew and thank you for trusting me with your photography.
