Good brand photography isn’t about making a business look like everyone else, it’s about making it look unmistakably like itself. Every business has a story that a stock photo can’t tell and Nic invited me in to tell the story of Artielli with all its character - full of texture, warmth, intricate detail and oozing bespoke artistry.

Artielli is an independent jeweller in Walton-on-Thames . An in-house workshop and shop in one, known for bespoke design, engagement rings and wedding bands, alongside carefully sourced and vintage pieces, plus repairs, engraving and pearl stringing. The kind of place where jewellery is chosen and finished by people who actually care how it’s done.

Nic is rebranding the Artielli website and needed visuals to match: fresh, authentic imagery of him, the store and the process most customers never see. So I spent the day capturing stills and video - the bespoke pieces, the goldsmith’s bench, and that wonderful gold-swirl interior.

Now it’s over to Steve to bring it together online. ✨

On my way to tell my clients to stop booking photoshoots on sunny days! 🌞

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear? ‘It’s a sunny day - perfect for photos!’.
Honestly, give me a cloudy sky any day.

Midday sun is flat, unflattering, and unforgiving on people - blowing out skin tones, casting harsh shadows under eyes, and washing out all that lovely colour and texture.

And interiors? Even worse. Those rays streaming through the windows might feel dreamy in real life, but on camera they create blown highlights and deep shadows that fight each other - making even the most beautiful room look unbalanced and hard to read.

Soft, diffused, directional light is the most flattering. For faces and for spaces!

Here’s what actually works 👇

☁️ Overcast days are your best friend
Clouds act as a giant natural softbox - soft, even, flattering light for both faces and spaces. Don’t cancel a shoot because it’s grey outside.

🪟 North-facing windows are gold
Indoors, they give beautiful consistent light with no harsh sun streaming in - perfect for portraits and interiors alike.

💡 Turn off your overhead lights
Mixing warm bulbs with cool daylight creates colour cast chaos. Let your photographer control the light sources.

🕐 Avoid the 10am–3pm window in summer
The sun is at its harshest and highest. Early morning or late afternoon is where the magic happens.

🪄 Diffuse, don’t block
If the sun is out for an interior shoot, net curtains or blinds can soften it beautifully rather than shutting it out completely (or I’ll bring the props!)

🌆 Don’t overlook twilight
Dusk shots for interiors are stunning - indoor lights glow warmly without competing with harsh daylight.

Good light isn’t about luck. It’s about knowledge - and that’s exactly what I bring to every shoot. 📷

Want to know what to wear to your next photoshoot? 👗

Whatever the f**k you feel comfortable in!
Full stop.

Here’s what I actually mean by that:

1. Wear what makes YOU feel good.
If you’ve got a we**ie from the millennial thong you got Instagrammed into instead of the Bridget Jones shapewear that actually holds you together - you’re already losing. Confidence is an inside job. Dress for that.

2. Great underwear is non-negotiable.
Smooth lines, no VPL, no surprises. Your future self will thank (and so will I when it comes to post production)

3. Pack for every eventuality.
Layers. Always layers. Hot flushes, air con, a British ‘summer’, bloating, your period deciding today’s the day — plan for all of it.

4. Think about longevity vs. the moment.
A Christmas jumper might be perfect for your seasonal launch - but it has a shelf life of about six weeks. Mix timeless pieces with intentional trend moments.

5. Colour is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Had your colours done? Even better. Think about what reflects your brand - the mood, the aesthetic, the feeling you want people to get when they land on your feed or website.

6. Create movement.
Photos are static but you aren’t - usually. Floaty fabrics, open jackets, pieces with pockets you can actually use. Movement transforms a shot and brings you to life

Save this andShare it with someone who’s spiralling about what to wear. 📌

And if you’re shooting with me, we’ll be dm’ing all the way up to shoot day to make sure your outfit lineup is 🔥

When it comes to confidence, our posture and the effects it has on our presentation is often overlooked.

Taking a beat to drop into your body and connect to it in the moment can really transform how you hold yourself and help you to not only feel calm, but poised, open and READY.

This isn’t about posing or being ‘posed’ (directed) it’s about what comes from within. In order to bring out the best in you, I often do this with my clients at the start of photoshoots, to ground them in the moment and get them out of their head and into their body. Because whilst I’m here to guide you into position to help translate the best version of you into images, the confidence, glow and ‘feeling’ comes from within you. You just need to tap into it!

If there is one thing I’d urge you to do moving into 2026, it’s to make it the year you start showing up for yourself. Whatever or however that looks and feels to you. The world and people around you will take as much as you’re willing to give (and more) and whilst the universe can give back in wonderful ways, the one thing it can’t do, is gift you more time - you have to take it for yourself wherever you can- even if it comes in minutes not hours or days.

Don’t wait for someone else’s approval or permission and don’t wait for others to show you the way. Take a leap of faith, in yourself. Book the trip, the experience, the photoshoot and try something new - see what opens up for you off the back of that bravery!

2025 was the year I finally gave myself permission to take time and make space just for me. I took a solo trip, I started cold water dips, I went to more concerts, started reformer Pilates, got back on my bike, and said ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ to things intentionally and in equal measure to keep my fire alight and I know I will show up better for my family, friends and my business as a result.

I hope you can join me in moving into 2026 with a promise to yourself to take the best care of you!

Wishing everyone warmth and love this festive season and see you ready and raring to go in 2026!

If, like me, you’ve ever taken a selfie that looked perfect in the preview, then when you check it after you think “who is THAT?” then you’ll want to SAVE this fix!

Here’s what’s happening:
You’ve spent your entire life looking at yourself in mirrors. Your brain has memorised that version of your face - the mirrored version.

But when you take a selfie, most phones flip the image to show your TRUE face (what everyone else sees). And because it’s reversed from what you’re used to, your brain flags it as “wrong.”

It’s not that you look bad. It’s that you look unfamiliar.
The good news? You can fix this…

How to Save Selfies as Mirror Images (What You’re Used To):

iPhone:
Settings → Camera → Turn ON “Mirror Front Camera”

Samsung:
Open Camera → Tap Settings (gear icon) → Turn ON “Save selfies as previewed” or “Picture as preview”

Google Pixel:
Open Camera → Tap Settings → Turn ON “Save selfie as viewed”

Other Android:
Open Camera → Settings → Look for “Mirror front camera,” “Flip selfie,” or “Save as previewed”

Now your selfies will save exactly how you saw them - and suddenly you’ll like them way more.

BUT you know that the “weird” version is what everyone else sees every day… and they think you look great. 🤷‍♀️

💫 From athletic to accessible - how I helped this yoga teacher rebrand her entire message! 🧘‍♀️

Meet the very warm and welcoming, Natalia Radcliffe - a yoga teacher on a mission to make movement accessible to every body.

When Natalia came to me, she had a clear problem: her existing images showcased a more athletic practice that no longer reflected who she teaches or her core message - “Wonder In Movement.” She worried these photos might actually exclude the very people she wants to welcome: pre-natal women seeking peace during pregnancy, people with limited mobility, complete beginners who’ve never touched a yoga mat.
Her vision? Warm, authentic, soulful imagery that says “you belong here” - whether you’re super strong or just starting out.

As a trained yoga teacher myself, I understood the nuance she needed. This wasn’t just about capturing pretty poses. It was about showing the teacher who creates safe spaces, the instructor who adapts for every body, the guide who meets people exactly where they are.

We shot at the wonderful and captured headshots that radiate warmth, teaching moments that show her inclusive approach, and practice shots that feel joyful rather than intimidating. Even the shoot itself felt incredibly nourishing! Natalia left with a beautiful portfolio of images built to support her goals of growing her own classes, attracting corporate clients, and launching her pre-natal day retreats.

And I got another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review! ‘Clare was a pleasure to work with! She was incredibly organised and went the extra mile with props. Thank you so much’- Natalia

If your brand visuals no longer match your message, let’s fix that. Your content should open doors, not close them and invite your dream clients to walk right in!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This isn’t just any review - This is a review from another photographer! (Possibly the pinnacle of reviews!). I didn’t ask for it and it means a great deal to me.

When asked if I’d be interested in skill swapping, or outright shooting for her to capture BTS at one of her events, I was initially taken aback. Imposter syndrome surfaced instantly and let’s face it, shooting another photographer (much like a hairdresser cutting another’s hair, or a chef cooking for another) can feel somewhat intimidating! But once I’d given myself a slap and realised what a compliment the request was, I jumped on the chance!

I realise that some people might be reluctant to support their ‘competition’, after all Hester is a (phenomenal) Branding photographer. But I’m a firm believer that there is room for everyone and also in ‘collaboration over competition’. We all have our own journey and our own style. Different vibes for different tribes as they say.

Hester has her thing going on and I think it’s bloody brilliant. So why not help her (and Claire ) shine a little (or a lot) brighter! Things come full circle and being a part of someone else’s success is a privilege and an honour and I’ve a lot to learn from others along the way (like how to use ‘Edits’ courtesy of Claire and how to use my camera to video - thanks to Hester!)

💪🏻So my challenge to you is to ask yourself - how are you holding up others? Who is holding you up? Can you give a little more? What skills gap do you need to fill? Think about collaborating or outright supporting someone else.

If you can, I promise it will feel so good - for you and them, and the benefits of this kind of community are limitless!

📣What the client said: “We need photos of our recent projects.”
💡What we actually talked about in their discovery meeting…Everything except the projects.

I sat with an architecture firm today who wanted to hire me. Instead of diving into shot lists, we spent an hour unpacking something more important:

WHO their dream client is.
WHAT challenges they solve that others don’t.
HOW people experience their buildings, not just look at them.
WHAT elements that make their design philosophy unique.
WHAT 20 years in the industry should communicate.

Their current images? They’re not communicating any of it.

Here’s the truth: They don’t need someone to just photograph buildings. They need someone who understands that every image is either reinforcing their message or diluting it. And this doesn’t just apply to Architects - it applies to everyone offering a product or service.

So, before I touch my camera, I need to know:
• WHO you’re trying to reach
• WHAT makes your work different
• WHY clients should choose you
• HOW your spaces make people feel

Because I know that if you get the messaging right first. Then the beautiful images I take will have purpose and you’ll get the most use out of them.

✨This isn’t just about photography. It’s about visual strategy and if you work with me I will guide you through a process which sparks curiosity and seeks clarity it what you want to achieve. This way, you win every time and that’s why my clients love working with me and keep coming back.

It’s time to shine some light on my fabulous clients. Starting with the beautiful at Hannah Tress Advanced Skincare, who I had the pleasure of shooting with earlier this year.

After pouring her heart and soul into finishing her clinic, Hannah wanted branding images to serve as an invitation to join her, not just in this calm and luxury space but also, on a journey which takes a 360° approach to skincare.

Hannah doesn’t just treat skin like a “before-and-after” project, but embraces an holistic approach. That means: advanced in-clinic treatments, smart homecare, lifestyle tweaks (diet / stress / sleep), and ongoing support.

Hannah’s commitment to ongoing education into skincare treatments is inspiring and means that her clients can rest assured they are being looked after by a calm, confident and very well informed practitioner.

Hannah’s lifestyle reflects her brand philosophy and she wanted to capture this to reflect her approach so we stepped out of clinic and jumped into her kitchen where she regularly bakes sourdough and makes her own kimchi.

So if you’re ready to stop chasing trends and give your skin a 360° glow up is your woman!

And if you’re ready to give your Brand a glow up to, that’s me!!
