What does candid actually mean?
Candid moment’s arent created by your wedding photographer. they’re created by you, your guests & simply being present with the people you love.
I hear alot when talking to couples “we just want candid, natural photos”
I understand why, if you feel awkward infront of a camera “candid” sounds safe, no pressure no posing & no awkwardness.
BUT thats where i feel couples sometimes misunderstand what candid actually means.
When it comes to your couple photos, if I put you somewhere, point my camera at you and wait for you to be “candid”, chances are you’ll feel even more awkward. Not knowing what to do & you wont like your wedding photos after either.
How I work
I don’t take photos that look candid, I create a space for your photos to feel like you. I will give prompts, keep it fun, keep you moving and look for genuine moments in between the prompts.
You don’t need to know how to pose, my job is to guide you when needed, I’ll talk to you have a laugh & before you know it you’ve done 15/20 minutes of photos with me just being yourself.
The best advice I can give is trust your photographer & focus on each other.
Then comes the real candid part of your day.
This is where I step back.
You’re not thinking about the camera. You’re not being prompted. You’re are just being present with your guests and enjoying your wedding. And that’s where the unseen moments happen.
You don’t need to pose for the camera.
You just need to be present, trust me, and enjoy the people you’ve brought together to celebrate you. 🤍
