It's not always weddings over here at Katy Holland Photography. I often get invited into the homes of lovely families to document their life, usually to welcome the newest member.

It's often chaotic, it's usually loud, sometimes it's the calm moments of reflection but it's always a very special time. Those little hands don't stay little for very long and I love to photograph those special moments, freezing them in time forever for you to look back on.

If you're contemplating a family shoot, I don't know anyone that's regretted it, but I know many people (myself included!) that's thought "I wish I'd had more photos when the children were little"

This weekend I have booked two lovely weddings for later in the year at Guildford Registry office. I feel sad that this lovely building will be closing later in the year, but glad I get to go back twice more when I thought I'd worked here for the last time in March 💛

What a treat it was to photograph these gorgeous boys during their at home family shoot recently.

Daithi with his long eyelashes and butter-wouldn't-melt smile. Little Tadhg was a delight at only 3 weeks old. And Rosie the dog wanted to get involved too! It was a complete family affair 💙💙🐾

Black and white will always be my favourite 🖤🤍

When delivering your wedding gallery, some of the images have been carefully selected where removing the colour adds something to the image.

🖤Timeless feel. Black and white can strip away “when” something was shot, making it feel classic or universal.

🖤Color is distracting or weak. If the colors don’t add much (or clash), removing them can actually strengthen the photo.

🖤Artistic intent. Sometimes it's just to create a more minimal, graphic, or contemplative look.

Starting the wedding season off in London and my first time at The Old Marylebone Town Hall, followed by a ride on an old route master with a glass of prosecco. And to top it all off, we avoided the rain that seems to have been a constant since the start of the year.
