Nature doesn’t always serve up a quiet meal! This beautiful damselfly was caught in the perfect moment, holding onto its lunch while perched on a branch above the water.

The Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus) is a fast and powerful flyer, often seen darting low over grasslands, wildflowers and open countryside. Unlike many butterflies that tend to flutter gently from flower to flower, Clouded Yellows can cover surprisingly large distances in search of nectar and suitable plants.

🦋 They are strong migrants — Clouded Yellows can travel considerable distances, and numbers arriving in the UK can vary greatly from year to year.

🌼 They love wildflowers — adults feed on nectar from a variety of flowers, helping them fuel their energetic flight.

☀️ Sunshine brings them out — they are particularly active on warm, bright days and can be surprisingly difficult to photograph as they rarely sit still for long!

Beautiful Dahlias in Bloom 🌸

There’s something truly magical about dahlias—the layers of delicate petals, the incredible colours, and the way each bloom seems to have its own personality. 💕🌺

I loved capturing these beautiful pink dahlias in all their glory, from the soft, elegant petals of one bloom to the perfectly formed layers of the other.

Nature really does create the most beautiful works of art. 📸

With its striking warm red-orange body, intricate wings and incredible detail, this tiny dragonfly is a wonderful reminder of the beauty that can be found in nature when we simply pause and look closely.

A beautiful little moment from the world of dragonflies — two Common Darters joined together in their unmistakable mating wheel.

Yesterday’s adventure 📸

What a fantastic day out exploring and photographing nature! Yesterday brought plenty of Migrant Hawkers — always a joy to watch as they patrol the water, darting and hovering with incredible speed and precision.

The stream was absolutely alive with dragonflies, and although getting close enough for that perfect shot is never easy.🦋🐛

A lovely day spent outdoors, camera in hand, enjoying the little moments that make wildlife photography so rewarding.
