Happy 1st birthday to our Lando! 🧡 🐾

This Sunday just gone, you turned one, so it felt like the perfect time to share a few life lessons from my dog… although you’ve definitely taught us a few things we weren’t expecting! 🙈

Get outside. Enjoy the simple things. Embrace the chaos. Explore. Laugh lots. Love hard.

And apparently… keep absolutely everything out of reach because you are a professional sock, tea towel and jumper thief 🧦😅

You chew everything, still have so much puppy in you, and coming inside is apparently far less fun than making me chase you around the flower bed 20 times first!

But… you make us laugh every single day. You love hard, want to be involved in absolutely everything, have the sweetest little eyes and the biggest smile when you’re asleep on your back 🐶

You’ve brought so much fun, chaos and love into our lives in just one year.

You drive us completely mad sometimes… but you’re our family, and we wouldn’t have you any other way.

Happy birthday, fluffy wuffy 🧡

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about how much my photography business has changed over the years.

When I started Perspectives Photography, I never imagined it would evolve into what it is today… and I’m really proud of that.

A lot of that change started with one unexpected conversation at Sidmouth Folk Festival, with Andy Green , who encouraged me to look at photography a little differently and push myself beyond the obvious.

I think sometimes you just have to follow what interests you, step out of your comfort zone, try something different and see where it takes you.

And now I’m feeling ready for another little evolution… 👀

Extraordinary Women | Episode 3: Ella 🩰

Ella started ballet at five years old, which quickly became a defining part of her life. It taught her discipline, collaboration and dedication, while giving her friendships that have lasted into adulthood.

These qualities have stayed with her and continue to shape her work in healthcare today, where teamwork and compassion are so important.

This portrait is particularly special to me because it marked a turning point in my photography. When I was photographing weddings, I found myself loving the quiet bridal portraits most… those moments where I could really focus on the woman in front of me.

I started to wonder why women had to wait for a wedding day or another milestone to have that experience.

Why couldn’t we create beautiful, meaningful portraits that celebrated the things that make a woman who she is?

For Ella, that story was ballet… a childhood passion that shaped so much of the woman she became.

This is what the Extraordinary Women Portrait Series is all about… celebrating the stories behind the women, and creating portraits that preserve them for generations to come 🤍

I realised the other day that Perspectives Photography is 20 years old…

Twenty years!

With SidmouthFolkFestival returning this week, it felt like the perfect time to look back at where it all began for me.

Back in 2006, you’d have found me on Sidmouth seafront in flip-flops, proudly pushing my Mobile Display Unit, stacked high with greetings cards, mounted prints, framed photographs and canvases.

Trading with a pedlar’s licence meant I couldn’t stay in one place, so my husband built me a stand on wheels (thank you, husband!) and I spent the week trundling up and down the seafront.

Behind the scenes, my family were cutting bubble wrap, labelling bags and packing cards so I looked as professional as a pedlar possibly could.

I loved every minute and, at the time, I was certain this was what my business would always be.

Then a young press photographer stopped for a chat.

I had no idea that one conversation would completely change the direction of my business and still influence the shoots I do to this day.

But more on that story another time 🤍

It’s a lovely reminder that the moments which shape us often arrive when we least expect them…

A conversation.
A chance meeting.
A throwaway comment.

You never know which one will become part of your story.
